Ultrathin films deposited by means of magnetron sputtering and their characterization
Petr, Martin ; Kylián, Ondřej (advisor) ; Straňák, Vítězslav (referee) ; Tichý, Milan (referee)
Presented work is focused on the deposition and characterization of thin and ultrathin plasma polymer films, then also on the preparation of nanocomposites metal/plasma polymer. The characterization of plasma polymer films was partly done in-situ without exposing the samples to the atmosphere. The thickness of prepared films was measured by spectral ellipsometry, the chemical composition was measured by XPS. The morphology and optical properties of deposited films were measured ex-situ. It is shown that during the initial stages of growth the properties of plasma polymer films depend on their thickness and also on the material of the substrate. Many interesting applications were explored for prepared nanocomposites metal/plasma polymer. They can be used as superhydrophobic coatings, gradient coatings, substrates for Raman spectroscopy or as antibacterial coatings. Moreover, special optical properties of prepared nanocomposites were studied in detail. Presented work has an experimental character.
Promoter-terminator interactions in eukaryotic RNA polymerase II transcription
Petr, Martin ; Hozák, Pavel (advisor) ; Vaňková Hausnerová, Viola (referee)
Gene loops are chromatin structures formed by juxtaposition of distal genomic regions. Since these regions are often involved in transcription cycle control, gene loops therefore provide another mechanism of regulation of gene expression. This thesis summarizes recent findings about gene loops, focusing specifically on loops formed by interactions between promoter and terminator regions of genes transcribed by the eukaryotic RNA polymerase II. Different cases of gene loops discovered in several yeast genes, the mammalian BRCA1 tumor suppressor and the HIV-1 integrated provirus are described, including mechanisms that possibly lead to the formation of these structures. Since gene loops and interactions between promoter and terminator in yeast have been linked to the transcriptional memory, their involvement in this phenomenon is discussed. Finally, as BRCA1 and HIV-1 are directly linked to serious human diseases, the potential significance of alterations of gene loops in the development of various pathological conditions is presented. Keywords: gene loops, chromatin loops, chromatin conformation, transcriptional memory, transcription, gene expression, regulation
Depozition of hydrophobic fluorocarbon coatings by plasma polymerization methods
Petr, Martin ; Kylián, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kudrna, Pavel (referee)
In this work we study the deposition of hydrophobic fluorocarbon coatings by magnetron sputtering of polymeric PTFE target. We show what is the influence of the conditions of the deposition process - the pressure in the chamber, the RF power - on the properties of the resulting CFx thin films (their chemical composition, morphology, wettability, barrier and optical properties, stability and possible bio-aplications). In this work we use a novel way to control the morphology and the chemical composition of the surface of thin films independently by using nano-particles, both metal (Pt, Cu, Al) and polymeric (C:H, Nylon). With nano-particles we can control the hydrophobicity of thin films and we can prepare super-hydrophobic films. Work has an experimental character.
Handwriting recognition using neural network
Petr, Martin ; Surynek, Pavel (advisor) ; Pergel, Martin (referee)
Title: Handwriting recognition using neural network Author: Martin Petr Department: Department of Theoretical Computer Science and Mathematical Logic Supervisor: RNDr. Pavel Surynek, PhD. Supervisor's e-mail address: pavel.surynek@mff.cuni.cz Abstract: Pattern recognition finds its use in many fields whose development has been affected by computer science and computer technology. Among these, the conversion of handwritten or printed text into computer-encoded text has a particularly prominent position. In the presented work we propose a method for recognizing handwritten characters in real-time using feedforward neural network as the basic classification mechanism. Dealing with differences among individual instances of each handwritten character we thoroughly explored the possibility of suppressing these while emphasizing characteristics that are essential for successful recognition. For these purposes we employed discrete cosine transform, whose time-proven application in audio and video signal processing or even directly in the field of pattern recognition provided a convincing argument for us to use it in our work as well. As a means of suppressing variations among various writing instruments we proposed preprocessing of input images using binarization and skeletonization. The designed method was...
Family house with atelier
Petr, Martin ; Herman, Adolf (referee) ; Bantová, Sylva (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design a house with a studio. Building site is situated on the periphery of the town Bystré u Poličky. The family house is designed for a family of four. The building has two floors with no cellar. On the ground floor is situated garage with room for two cars. Integral part of bachelor thesis is a seminar paper. It deals with authentication functionality of family house in selected heating technology terms.
GUI for Configuration of MCU Peripheral Modules
Petr, Martin ; Bartoš, Pavel (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
Bachelor thesis describes the design, implementation and testing application that provides generating configuration files for microcontroller, using the graphical user interface. The output of this application are files with functions that can be added to the project for specific microcontroller.
Cost calculation in truck transport
Petr, Martin ; Novák, Radek (advisor) ; Šošovička, Lukáš (referee)
Master's Thesis is dealing with cost calculation in truck transport in view of smaller freight and spedition bussines firm which is operating on Czech territory. The main point is to break down cost calculation for all kinds of vehicles, which are owned by analysed firm, relative to the monitored period. Created cost calculation will serve to the employees by price setting for the transport services in future.
Komplexní analýza nákladní dopravy ve společnosti Granitol a.s., Moravský Beroun
Petr, Martin ; Mervart, Michal (advisor) ; Nevrlý, Michal (referee)
