Tato diplomová práce se zabývá kvalitou ovzduší vybraných městských oblastí Afriky. Hlavním cílem bylo zkoumání současné kvality ovzduší ve městech Abidjan, Johannesburg, Káhira, Kinshasa a Nairobi. Dalšími cíli byla charakteristika dopadů vlivu na lidské zdraví a kvalitu života a uplatňování environmentálních politik a opatření na ochranu kvality ovzduší vybraných měst. Interpretace výsledků probíhala na základě sekundární analýzy dat, kdy prostřednictvím využití koncentrace PM2,5 v ovzduší a doporučených limitů WHO byl zjištěn současný stav znečištění ovzduší ve vybraných městských oblastech. Výsledky ukazují, že vybraná africká města mají neefektivní environmentální strategie a čelí vysokým koncentracím PM2,5 v ovzduší, které přináší velmi vážné zdravotní komplikace. Hlavním zjištěním práce je nedostatek kvalitních dat a studií o znečištěném ovzduší ve vybraných městech, díky kterým nejsou dostatečně nastaveny environmentální politiky. This diploma thesis deals with the air quality of selected urban areas in Africa. The main aim was to analyse the current situation of the air quality in the cities of Abidjan, Johannesburg, Cairo, Kinshasa, and Nairobi. Additional goals included characterizing the impacts on human health and quality of life, as well as the implementation of environmental policies and measures to protect the air quality of the chosen cities. The interpretation of results was based on the secondary analysis of data, using the concentration of PM2.5 in the air and the recommended WHO limits to determine the current situation of air pollution in the selected urban areas. The results indicate that the selected African cities have ineffective environmental strategies and face high concentrations of PM2.5 in the air, leading to severe health complications. The main finding of the study is the lack of high quality data and studies on air pollution in the selected cities, resulting in insufficiently formulated environmental policies.
