Stárnutí chrupu a s tím přicházející potíže jsou očekávány a přijímány jako přirozená součást stáří. Následky nevhodné péče o chrup, zanedbávání péče o chrup, nedostatečná informovanost spolu s přirozeným procesem involuce, zhoršením fyzického i psychického stavu však způsobují celou řadu obtíží výrazně ovlivňující kvalitu života. Nejde jen o zdravotní obtíže, ale i poruchy mluvení a artikulace, poruchy v příjmu potravy, nepříznivý estetický efekt a následný sociální dopad. Jde o téma, které je takřka opomíjeno, přestože představuje významný aspekt v životě člověka. Náplní teoretické části práce jsou důsledky demografického stárnutí, kapitoly o orálním zdraví seniorů a oddíly věnované popisu zařízení, kde probíhala výzkumná činnost. Cílem práce bylo vyhodnocení zdravotně sociální problematiky péče o chrup seniorů v Domě seniorů {--} domově důchodců v Pacově. Zaměřila jsem se na subjektivní pohled seniorů na tuto problematiku. V bakalářské práci byla použita metoda kvantitativního výzkumu, technikou sběru dat byl řízený dotazník. Výsledky výzkumu byly zpracovány do grafů a tabulek. Cíl byl naplněn, získání dat proběhlo bez obtíží, dotazníkové šetření bylo časově náročnější vzhledem k specifikům cílové skupiny. K částečné objektivizaci získaných informací byla použita technika obsahové analýzy dat. Obě negativně postavené hypotézy byly potvrzeny, i když v menší než předpokládané míře. H1 Stav chrupu seniorů v Domě seniorů {--} domově důchodců v Pacově ovlivňuje kvalitu jejich života negativním způsobem. H2 Současný systém péče o chrup seniorů v Domě seniorů {--} domově důchodců v Pacově neodpovídá jejich opravdové potřebě z hlediska kvality života. Svou práci chápu jako indikátor kvality péče o institucionalizované seniory, jehož výsledky povedou k zlepšování úrovně péče jak v tomto konkrétním zařízení, tak k obeznámení odborné veřejnosti o široké problematice tohoto tématu. Teeth aging and the troubles accompanying this process are expected and accepted as a natural part of aging. However, consequences of inadequate dental care, dental care neglecting, a lack of awareness, along with the natural process of involution, the deterioration of physical and mental condition cause an array of difficulties significantly affecting the quality of life. Not only health problems occur, but also speaking and articulation disorders, disorders in food intake and poor aesthetics, which result in a social impact. This issue has been marginalized, though it constitutes an important aspect of human life. The thesis deals with demographic aging implications, the chapters refer to oral health of seniors and there are sections devoted to the description of the health care facility where the research was carried out. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the health and social problems in dental care of seniors in the Senior Home {--} Home for the Elderly in Pacov. I focused on the seniors´ subjective views on this issue. The method used was quantitative research, the data collection technique was that of guided questionnaire. The research results are summarized in graphs and tables. The objective was achieved, the data acquisition was carried out without difficulty, the questionnaire survey was more time consuming due to the specifics of the target group. Partial objectification of the information obtained was made through the use of the content data analysis technique. The both negatively constructed hypotheses were confirmed, although to a lesser extent than anticipated. H1 The state of teeth in the seniors in Senior home- Home for the Elderly in Pacov negatively affects their life quality. H2 The current system of dental care of seniors in the Senior Home {--}Home for the Elderly in Pacov does not correspond to the real needs in terms of seniors´ life quality. I consider my research an indicator of the quality care of the institutionalized elderly, the outcomes of which will lead to the improvement in care standards in this particular facility and also to a better awareness of the professional public about this broad issue.
