Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje štamgastenství jako svébytnému kulturnímu fenoménu a jeho roli v současné kultuře hospod. Shrnuje vývoj hospod v českém prostředí a vysvětluje symbolický význam místa hospody v konstrukci české národní identity. Na hospodu jako veřejný prostor nahlíží z pozice konceptu třetího místa amerického urbánního sociologa Raye Oldenburga, podle níž je pro zdravé fungování jedince ve společnosti vedle domova a práce nezbytné třetí místo, neutrální prostor, kde může jedinec prožívat neformální veřejný život. Existence třetích míst je dle tohoto pohledu nezbytná pro vytváření lokální komunity a kultivování občanské společnosti. Tato práce se zaměřuje na štamgasty jako tu skupinu, která třetímu místu v podobě hospody vdechuje život a udržuje ho. V praktické části je prováděn kvalitativní výzkum pomocí etnografie ve dvou vybraných pražských hospodách s cílem zjistit, zdali existuje v současné kultuře hospod prostor pro štamgastenství a jak s ním jednotlivé hospody nakládají. Zjišťuje, že štamgastenství se obdobně rozvíjí v obou podnicích, avšak rozdíl ve výsledném stavu spočívá v kontrole nad podobou vztahů mezi obsluhou a hosty. Klíčová slova Štamgasti, štamgastenství, kultura hospod, třetí místo, česká společnost, kvalitativní výzkum This bachelor thesis concerns on 'the practice of being a pub regular' ("štamgastenství") as a particular cultural phenomenon and its role in contemporary pub culture. It summarises the evolution of pubs in the Czech context and explains a symbolical meaning of the place of pub in the construction of a Czech national identity. The thesis looks at pub as a public space from the perspective of the concept of the third place of an American urban sociologist Ray Oldenburg according to which for one's healthy functioning in society it is important to have got, beside of a home and a workplace, also the third place, a neutral ground, where one can experience informal public life. As claimed by this approach, the existence of the third places is crucial for an establishment of local community and cultivation of civil society. This thesis focuses on pub regulars as the group that makes the third place in the form of a pub alive and keeps it as such. The practical part of the thesis engages in a qualitative research using a method of ethnography on two selected Prague pubs in order to find out whether there is still a space for 'the practice of being a pub regular' in contemporary pub culture and how the individual pubs deal with it.
