Předkládaná bakalářská práce zpracovává téma ochrany přírody v Indonésii. Představuje historii a současnost dané problematiky a konkrétně ji analyzuje na příkladu populace slona sumaterského v národním parku Way Kambas. Zabývá se ekologickými aspekty, antropogenními vlivy na krajinu i sociokulturními souvislostmi. V úvodní části práce je rozebrán vztah tamních obyvatel k životnímu prostředí na základě historických předpokladů a faktických antropogenních zásahů do přírody. Druhá část práce popisuje zrod a šíření environmentálních myšlenek v indonéském souostroví. Dále objasňuje současný stav ochrany přírody v zemi z legislativního i sociálního hlediska a důkladně rozpracovává problematiku ochrany slona sumaterského. Ta je poté hlavním tématem třetí, praktické části, ve které je stav ochrany slona sumaterského detailně rozebrán na jeho populaci ve Way Kambas. Tato část práce popisuje hlavní principy a cíle parku, mapuje tamní sloní populaci a vykresluje metody její ochrany včetně mitigace konfliktů slonů a lidí (tzv. "human-elephant conflict"). Závěr práce poskytuje analýzu významu parku v oblasti ochrany slona sumaterského na základě terénního výzkumu a online dotazníkového šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo 13 zaměstnanců parku. Klíčová slova: ochrana přírody, slon, Sumatra, Way Kambas, etnozoologie (in English) This bachelor's thesis elaborates nature and wildlife conservation issues in Indonesia. It provides both historical and contemporary information on the stated topic. Subsquently it analyzes the issue on the example of the population of the Sumatran elephant in the Way Kambas National Park. It deals with ecological aspects, anthropogenic impacts on the landscape and sociocultural context. The first part of the thesis describes historical preconditions for the human-nature relationship in the area and the landscape change of the region across time and space. The second part of the thesis depicts the inception and spread of environmental beliefs throughout the Indonesian archipelago. Moreover, it discusses the current status of nature conservation in Indonesia in both legislative and social perspective. It emphasizes the status of conservation of the Sumatran elephant, which is afterwards examined on the population of the Way Kambas National Park in the third chapter of the thesis. That part presents main principles and goals of the park as well as information about local elephant population and methods of its conservation, including mitigation of the human-elephant conflict.
