Abstract: The national identity issue is constantly topical even in times of strong globalization and acculturation tendencies. Music, especially its most fundamental layer - traditional music, also helps to define national identity. Therefore, determining the basic types of Czech folk music is one of the major tasks of ethnomusicological research.
