Abstract: This thesis will deal with the Blackfoot nation, including their history, lifestyle and mythology. The main focus will be on the change of their life caused by destruction of their natural environment. The author will compare their lfestyles before and after the European settlers´s invasion of the Prairies. The comparison will focus on the near extinction of the buffalo, their main nutrition source, the loss of their lands, and on the reduction of their numbers. Most importantly, the current situation of the Blackfoot will be analyzed.
