V příspěvku jsou popsány principy činnosti meteorologického radaru, výběr vlnové délky, ukázána je radioelektrická charakteristika meteorologických cílů a typické technické parametry klasických meteorologických radiolokátorů. Formuluje se radarová rovnice pro meteorologické cíle (liší se od klasické radarové rovnice) včetně definování základních pojmů jako faktor radarové odrazivosti apod. Je ukázán odhad parametrů srážkové oblasti (intenzita dešťových srážek) z radarových ech. Jsou diskutovány zdroje možných chyb. Připojeny jsou možnosti polarimetrických a dvouvlnných radarů (zpřesnění odhadu kvantitativních parametrů srážkových oblastí, detekce různých typů meteorologických cílů). The contribution describes the principles of meteorological radars and the wavelength choice. The description of meteorological targets is also shown as well as typical technical parameters of meteorological radars. The radar equation for meteorological targets is shown on the base of the difference from the air traffic radars. The basic terms such as equivalent radar reflectivity factor are defined. The estimation technique of the precipitation intensity is deduced. The possible uncertainty is discussed . Also dual wavelength and polarimetric radars and its improved possibilities are added.
