Práce se věnuje fenoménu loutky, proměnám její funkce, typologii loutek a technologických postupům jejich výroby, zejména v české lidové kultuře. Dále sleduje vývoj loutky od jejího vzniku až do současnosti nejen v českém prostředí, ale i v evropském kontextu. Mimo jiné popisuje typické postavy ztvárňované loutkou, symboliku loutky a s tím spojené náměty her loutkového divadla v Čechách. Všímá si i profesí spjatých s loutkou - loutkářství a řezbářství. Také se pokouší o náhled na chápání loutky a loutkového divadla v současnosti v českém prostředí. This thesis focuses on the phenomenon of a puppet, the transformation of its function, the typology of puppets and the technological process of its production, especially in the Czech folk culture. It also monitors the development of a puppet from its beginnings until present days not only in the Czech environment, but in the European context too. Besides it describes typical characters portrayed by a puppet, the symbolism of a puppet and themes of the plays of the puppet theatre related to puppets in Bohemia. It also notices professions connected to the puppet - puppetry and carving. It also tries at insight on the understanding of puppet and puppet theatre currently in the Czech environment.
