Některá toponyma zakončená na měkkou nebo obojetnou souhlásku kolísají v rodě, a to hlavně v mluveném jazyce. Dříve byla tato toponyma používána jako maskulina, dnes jsou převážně kodifikována jako feminina. Tato práce se zabývá popisy těchto toponym v jazykovědných příručkách a kompendiích, které popisují buď příslušnost toponyma ke gramatickému rodu, jejich vznik a význam, nebo užívání toponyma v lidových nářečích. Na základě údajů v těchto příručkách vznikl seznam kolísajících toponym, ve kterém jsou ve zkratce zapsány údaje o gramatickém rodě i s lidovým užíváním přesně tak, jak jsou popisovány v příručkách, aby se mohly jednoduše porovnat. Vybraná toponyma, ta která byla v příručkách více rozebírána, nebo ta, u kterých byl v příručkách a kompendiích uveden odlišný gramatický rod, jsou v této práci dále popsána. Další část práce se zabývá internetovým dotazníkem, který měl být sondou do užívání gramatického rodu těchto toponym rodilými řečníky. Zkoumal několik toponym vybraných na základě jejich všeobecné známosti, nebo jejich četnosti v různých okresech. Respondent měl za úkol buď přiřadit k toponymu adjektiva, nebo dosadit toponymum do předepsané věty ve správném pádu. Většina respondentů užívá tato toponyma jako feminina, ovšem maskulinní lidová podoba jmen se stále u několika respondentů objevuje.... In Czech, the assignment of grammatical gender to certain place names ending in (what is known as) soft or hybrid consonants is inconsistent, especially in the spoken language. These toponyms used to be treated as masculine nouns but today are overwhelmingly codified as feminine nouns. The present paper takes a look at the way these toponyms are described in linguistic guides and compendia which specify their gender, their origination and their meaning, or describe their use in local dialects. Based on the data in those manuals, the author has created a list of gender-shifting toponyms, with a brief specification of the grammatical gender and colloquial use (exactly as described in the said manuals), so as to allow for their easy comparison. Selected toponyms (which are analyzed in more detail in the grammatical guides, or which were assigned a different gender by different guides and compendia) are the subject of a broader discussion within the context of this work. In another section, the present work references the results of an internet questionnaire designed to map the actual use of grammatical gender for these toponyms by native speakers.
