Tato práce se zabývá syrským konfliktem. Syrský konflikt je střet, který v současnosti (duben 2014) trvá již přes tři roky a stále je aktuálním a vyvíjejícím se tématem, které představuje palčivou a nedořešenou vnitrostátní i mezinárodní otázku. Při bojích, do kterých je zapojeno obrovské množství názorově odlišných skupin, došlo mimo konvenčních zbraní také k užití zbraní chemických. Následky bojů dopadají nejtíživěji na místní obyvatelstvo, které dlouhodobě trpí kvůli těžkým životním a humanitárním podmínkám. Cílem této diplomové práce je zachytit problematiku syrského konfliktu, zhodnotit úlohu OSN, kterou při řešení syrského konfliktu doposud měla, a odpovědět na otázku, zda OSN při řešení syrského konfliktu naprosto selhala. This thesis deals with the Syrian conflict. The Syrian conflict has continued for over three years (April 2014) and still constitutes a topical and developing affair. It represents a pressing and unresolved national and international issue. There is a vast amount of groups with different ideas involved in this conflict. During the conflict, conventional, as well as chemical weapons were used. The consequences of the fighting are mostly faced by local inhabitants who have been severely suffering due to the harsh living and humanitarian conditions. The aim of this thesis is to depict the problems of the Syrian conflict, evaluate the role the UN has had up to the present, and answer the question whether the UN has totally failed in solving the Syrian conflict, or not.
