The effect of dumping and anti-dumping policy is often seen as more political than economic. Therefore the main aim of this thesis is to deeply specify the position of dumping on the fi eld of international trade, including all aspects of this phenomenon. This should answer the question if it is necessary to defend markets against dumping by the usage of anti-dumping duties or whether dumping should be a common element of free trade. This work includes an analysis of a practical case concerning shoe imports from China and Vietnam. Vliv dumpingu a anti-dumpingových opatření bývá spíše prezentován jako politický, nežli ekonomický. Z tohoto důvodu je hlavní cíl této bakalářské práce hlouběji speci kovat pozici dumpingu na poli mezinárodního obchodu, zároveň s veškerými aspekty tohoto fenoménu. Toto by mělo pomoci zodpovědět otázku, zda je nutné bránit trhy proti dumpingu, nebo jestli má být tento jev brán jako běžná součást svobodného obchodu. Tato práce zahrnuje analýzu praktického příkladu dumpingu, který se týkal dovozu levné obuvi z Číny a Vietnamu.
