Ještě v 1. polovině 20. století byly hygienické poměry na českém venkově na poměrně nízké úrovni. Pokusem o nápravu se stala v roce 1939 veřejná soutěž vypsaná Ministerstvem školství a národní osvěty za účelem získání architektonických studií a návrhů řešení. Even in the first half of the 20th century hygienic conditions in the Czech countryside is at a relatively low level. In an attempt to remedy became in 1939 a public competition organized by the Ministry of Education for the purpose of obtaining architectural studies and design solutions.
