Abstract: The diploma thesis is focused on the musical instrument oboe d´amore. The main reason to deal with this theme is the great shortage of professional texts about oboe d´amore in the Czech language. The main sources we can find are written in English and in German. My aim was to summarize older and the present texts and to demonstrate, explain and clarify the concrete problems of this theme. The first chapter concentrates on historical development of the oboe and the classification of the whole instrument family. Other chapters consist of concrete information about oboe d´amore. In the second chapter there are explored many facts such as historical development of the instrument from baroque era to the present days, tuning and the most important instrument makers. It also refers to composers and their compositions for oboe d´amore. The third chapter deals with description of the instrument in general, furthermore the fourth chapter deals with characterization of differences between the modern oboe and the oboe d´amore and the special issue as a problematic of transposition. The last chapter is focused on the reeds making.
