Studie se zabývá srovnáním trestu odnětí svobody na doživotí ve vybraných evropských zemích z hlediska jeho povahy jako trestu výjimečného. Práce je zaměřena zejména na podmínky udělení a výkonu doživotního trestu, a na možnost podmíněného propuštění z výkonu trestu doživotí. V práci jsou také představeny specifické instituty spojené s trestem doživotí v některých zemích (časově neomezená detence, možnost přeměny doživotního trestu apod.) This study compares the life imprisonment as the exceptional punishment in european countries. It mainly deals with conditions and execution of the life imprisonment and with possibility of parole. Study introduces specific inistitutes connected with life imprisonment in some countries (unlimited detention, possibility of transformation of the life prison, etc.)
