Study of river restoration measures of suburban watercourse

This diploma thesis deals with the problem of river restoration. Selected watercourse, which was inappropriately technically modified, had been mapped in detail and land use map was compiled. The watercourse was divided into sections, which were described in detail and assessed for suitability for restoration action. The new nature-friendly channel was designed on the selected section of the watercourse. Technical graphic documentation was designed.

Effects of restoration and renaturation measures applied on watercourses

This work focuses on the effects of restoration on watercourses, in particular on a planned restoration of Klíšský brook in Ohře basin and a finished restoration of Rokytka in Běchovice. The main goal is to use the methods HEM and MoRPh for evaluation of hydromorphology in both areas. In case of Klíšský brook, HEM is used to estimate ïts future condition after restoration. Another goal is to assess and propose a vegetation structure for the of Klíšský brook restoration, then to describe it on Rokytka. Research on the topic of river restoration, their goals and effects is included, as is an introduction to in the Czech Republic less known method MoRPh. The results of hydromorphological and vegetation structure assessment are introduced. Both utilised methods show adverse hydromorphological conditions on Klišský brook in comparison to Rokytka. Vegetation also shows higher diversity around and in Rokytka's channel. This work is a base for further monitoring of hydromorphology and vegetation evolution in both areas. Litovel a řeka

This diploma thesis deals with the relationship between the city and the river. It is not limited to the boundaries of urban areas, but also passes into the landscape. The theoretical part of the work summarizes the principles that it proposes as a starting point for the revitalization of watercourses and embankments. It finds common points on the basis of which it defines universally valid procedures for their solution. The are references from the Czech Republic and also from whole world. References presents possible procedures for creating solutions and approaches. The analytical part of the work deals with the analysis of the model area in Litovel. This city is located on 6 branches of the Morava River and hides a hitherto undiscovered potential in connection with the modification of the embankment. Architectural concept for riverspaces in Litovel was based on these analysis. Concept defines places with potential and suggests their form of use. Furthermore, part of the work are 2 detailed architectural studies, which address the northern and southern rivers in Litovel. This project respects the existing picturesque character of the city and the historical context of the places. The design solution creates new urban connections, lively urban spaces that not only support community life, but also support tourism.

Restoration of the section of the Libotyňský brook and adjacent floodplain meadows

This thesis deals with three main topics: research of current literature on the restoration of small watercourses and floodplains and the restoration of water supplies in the landscape. The main topic is the implementation of hydroecological monitoring of the Libotyňský stream (Prachatice district) using the HEM 2014 method and then a conceptual design of revitalizations that would improve the hydromorphological flow state. In the literature research, it is possible to find theoretical (e.g. natural and modified riverbeds) and applied topics (revitalization of smaller streams in the open countryside and urban areas, revitalization of other water features in the landscape). In the final part of this topic, the territorial system of ecological stability (ÚSES) and hydroecological monitoring are described. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the implementation of hydroecological monitoring of the Libotyňský stream in its entire length using the HEM 2014 method, its evaluation, description of strengths and weaknesses, and selection of individual sections for implementation. In the thesis, we also deal with specific proposals for measures to improve the stream's hydromorphological state by revitalizing the stream and adjacent floodplain meadows with a connection to the recreation zone and ÚSES proposed in the territorial plans of the municipalities whose cadastres the stream flows through. In the end, the work compares the proposed measures with the current state, evaluates the modifications made, and evaluates the goals of this work.

Vývoj změn koryta řeky Moravy a okolního prostoru na území města Olomouce

The bachelor thesis deals with the development of changes in the riverbed of the Morava river and surrounding areas in the city of Olomouc. It defines the river environment, the river and watercourse adjustments in urban areas. Furthermore, it describes various features of the selected area. These include its biogeographical description, history, localization of the area, demographic aspects and the river basin of the Morava river in Olomouc. The interpretation of the results is based on the comparison of a historical and modern map support, which is supported by contemporary photographs.

Hodnocení úprav řeky Isar v Mnichově z hlediska rekreačního využívání území

The diploma thesis is focused on the relationship between revitalization of watercourses and recreation. The theoretical background is based on the essence of revitalization of watercourses with emphasis on rivers in urban area. There are specified examples of good practice watercourses revitalization of the Czech Republic and abroad, always with emphasis on the possibility of recreation residents in the selected area. The practical part deals with the characteristics of the selected area of river Isar in Munich and also is evaluated the effect conducted revitalization actions. Furthermore, a survey carried out in this area, and SWOT analysis. Based on the findings are suggested measures consistent with flood protection and promotion of biodiversity, leading primarily to an increase in the recreational potential of the selected area of the river Isar in Munich.

Studie revitalizace vybraného úseku toku v povodí Klapovského potoka

The bachelor thesis is focused on water management in cadastral area Trnava near Třebíč in the catchment area of Klapovský stream. The theoretical part is devoted to the legislation in the field of water management and the problems of technical and nature-related watercourses adjustments. The main part is focused on restoration, especially in relation to flood control measures and restoration in a built-up area. At the beginning of the practical part is briefly summarized the characteristics of the area of interest and all the water management adjustments in the local streams. In the next part the adjustments in the selected section of Klapovský stream and their current state are described in more detail. Following is the proposal of other possible measures that would increase the restoring effect in the area of interest. At the end the adjustments and the current situation on the Klapovský creek are evaluated.

Assessment of river restoration effects based on hydromorphology

In the field of river restorations, topics being currently discussed are assessing success and quantifying effects that river restoration measures should have. This bachelor thesis deals with an assessment of the river restoration effects based on the hydromorphology. Current knowledge in fields of hydromorphology and fluvial geomorphology are presented in the theoretical part of this thesis. Recent outcomes and methodical procedures that are used to evaluate the effects of river restoration measures are also included. A method was developed based on the theoretical part of this thesis and the method EcoRivHab in order to assess the restoration effects by selected parametres. The method was applied on the restored segment of Litovický stream in Hostivice town in the practical part. The results of the thesis showed what a significant impact the restoration had on Litovický stream (in average +33.74 %). The parameter maximum flow velocity showed the highest effect (+84.9 %). On contrary, the parameter structure of bank vegetation had the only negative effect (-1.8 %). Key words: streams, river restoration, restoration effect, hydromorphology, hydromorphological survey

Preparation of revitalization study for small water course

The aim of this thesis is to prepare a design for the revitalization measures of Biřkovský stream including a design for polders "Karlovka and Niva". The designed measures should protect the village Biřkov from flash floods and enhance further increase of both water management and ecological stability of the basin. The solution is based on the assessment of hydrological, pedological, hydrogeological and vegetation docementation as well as the results of a detailed field survey of the area which is also reported in this thesis.

Study of revitalisation of the part of Karlický creek

This thesis deals with a revitalization action suggestion in the chosen part of Karlický creek in the district of Dobřichovice. The points of the thesis are to collect information material, to explore studied area, to evaluate current situation of creek and to suggest of revitalization actions, to return natural character of creek. In the studied area was made terrain survey, on which are based the suggestions of revitalization measures with appropriate accompanying vegetation. Hereafter this thesis deals with successfully realized revitalization measures of water flows in the Czech Republic. The results were processed in the form of evaluated situation of the creek and suggested revitalization measures.
