Aristocratic disputes over honour in the early modern period
PINTNER, Tomáš
The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of disputes over honour in the early modern period. It aims to present a comprehensible portrayal of the concept of honour and its social value between the years 1527-1627 in the Kingdom of Bohemia. Honour had slightly dissimilar worth in the lives of various groups of people of different social statuses, and it was an inseparable part of noblemen's identity. Its importance was reflected in legal norms, for there were explicitly defined offences against honour. Losing honour meant social segregation, and for that reason, one had to defend himself - either by legal means or by using violence. The thesis will further explore the second option, the duel, and its place in the early modern culture. Moreover, some representative examples of duels, European fencing trends of the 16th century, and weapon regulations of the period will be introduced. Finally, the thesis will be concluded with the analysis of the duel between Mikuláš Dačický of Heslov and Felix Novohradský of Kolovrat from 1582 and its legal consequences.

The obligation of confidentiality within emergency medical services
KINDL, Martin
The aim of the thesis is to outline the issues regarding confidentiality and to put it into the context of the specific practice of emergency medical services. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes the history and definition of confidentiality, as well as professions and information concerned. Medical confidentiality is often called "lekářské tajemství" ("medical secrecy"), which is a widely known and understandable term. Since it is not codified within the legal norms of the Czech Republic, the concept of confidentiality has been used. This concept has its roots in ancient history. In terms of historical development, it was necessary to redefine medical ethics (mainly due to the events in the Second World War). New medical ethics declarations had usually included a form of confidentiality. Medical confidentiality is defined in the Act No. 372/2011 Coll., on health services and the terms and conditions for the providing of such services within the laws of the Czech Republic. Confidentiality applies to all information that a health professional learned in providing specialized care for the patient. Such information may be redistributed only with the permission of the patient or also, in situations clearly spelt out in a law, without consent. In case of violation of the medical confidentiality, penalties may be laid down for the health professional. The concept of emergency medical service is defined in the Act No. 374/2011 Coll., on emergency medical [rescue] services. The Emergency Medical Service of the South Bohemian Region (hereinafter referred to as EMS JCK) is a self-governed contributory organisation established by the South Bohemian region. EMS JCK provides emergency health care in the region of South Bohemia. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the research of medical confidentiality between the health professionals of the Emergency Medical Services of the South Region. The quantitative research was used for the needs of the practical part. Anonymous semistructured questionnaires were used as a data collection method. The data were collected using an electronic questionnaire between members of the Emergency Medical Services of the South Bohemian Region in the month of April 2015. The set targets of the theses were: to map the awareness of confidentiality of health professionals and to explore respecting the confidentiality. These targets were met. Two hypotheses were set up for research purposes: H1 - health professionals of the EMS JCK are aware of obligatory confidentiality and H2 - health professionals of the EMS JCK respect obligatory confidentiality. The first hypothesis was confirmed. Confirmation or rejecting of the second hypothesis was not possible. The data obtained from the respondents pointed and led to the conclusion that health professionals comply with medical confidentiality. However, it is necessary to take into account other possible situations that could unwittingly cause it to breach (such as obtaining health history in a busy street, in front of a passer-by etc.). These situations are very common within the EMS and the research results may have been biased for these reasons.
