Who was your mother? Who are your uncles and aunts? The concept of family background and selected demographic phenomena in the work of Jane Austen in comparison with the Austen family and historical-demographic research for England at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries
Šimsová, Marie ; Doležalová, Lucie (advisor) ; Horský, Jan (referee)
The presented master thesis deals with the work of Jane Austen. The author's novels are analysed from the perspective of the concept of the family, both from a literary and demographic point of view. These research questions constitutes two subject of the examination. The first subject is the family, as it is the cornerstone of Jane Austen's short stories. The objective of this work is to analyse the extent to which family relationships determine the possibilities of the main characters and heroines; how the heroines benefit from family ties or, on the contrary, want to escape from them. The conclusions show that Austen applied this determination in all studied novels. This work further examines the degree of cooperation and rivalry of the individual families in the novels. At this point, a significant diversity of interfamily relationships was found. Secondly, this work maps selected demographic idiosyncrasies in Jane Austen's family, in the families from her short stories, and in historical demographic studies of England at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The concentration of fine particles in the indoor environment of buildings
Turčina, Lukáš ; Linda, Jakub (referee) ; Köbölová, Klaudia (advisor)
The issue of health is given a great deal of attention. However, human health is mainly affected by what enters the human body during life. Therefore, the emphasis is mainly on the quality of water, food, air or the overall environment in which people live. This bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of fine particles in the indoor environment of buildings, in which people spend most of their lives. Many of these particles enter the ambient air from the daily processes that people perform in the households. A high concentration of fine particles results in a greater probability of these particles entering the human body, where they can subsequently cause serious health problems. The theoretical part deals not only with the structure, size and impact of fine particles on the environment, but also on techniques for identification and measurement of fine particles, or methods of indoor air purification. The practical part is focused on the experimental measurement of fine particles in the indoor environment of buildings during everyday activities such as cooking, cleaning or using some equipment. The measurement results have shown that, especially during cooking and baking, a huge amount of particles enters the indoor air, especially PM1 particles, which have not yet received sufficient attention. Therefore, it is important to find suitable measures to eliminate these particles.

The thesis focuses on the functioning of volunteering within the family. The theoretical part deals with the definition of concepts related to the definition of volunteering. This thesis also includes the search of foreign literature which is dedicated to the study of volunteering in the family. In the empirical part is applied a qualitative research which is performed by the method of grounded theory. In the thesis are employed in-depth interviews on members of three families in which more than one family member volunteers are actively involved. The aim of the thesis is to add a different point of view into the topic of transfer of volunteering in the family. This thesis points out the family dimension of volunteering which most studies nowadays marginalize. Exploring the transfer of volunteering in the family is able to provide a unique insight of how each member is aware of volunteering. It also considers how and for which reasons the family members are or are not committed to the volunteering.
