Rising energy prices and the increase in housing benefits: did it help?
Pertold, Filip ; Pleticha, Petr
This study analyzes the effects of changes in the housing benefits policy in Czechia. In response to the surge in energy prices, the Czech government increased the maximum contributions for eligible households. Although the number of households drawing the contribution rose, their share among all eligible households dropped.
The Public on Electricity Consumption, Renewable Resources and Environmentally Friendly Production - May 2017
Červenka, Jan ; Ďurďovič, Martin
In May 2017 a survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on issue of power engineering. The survey dealt with a question of the future development of electricity consumption in the country, and whether or not it is possible to replace the production of electricity from conventional sources with alternative sources. Furthermore, the survey has found out how environmentally friendly the production of electricity is from some sources according to general public. The investigation also examined the acceptability or unacceptability of the rise in energy prices in consequence of the financial support of their production from renewable sources.
Conscription of electricity from solar radiation and its impact on manufacturers
LEBEDOVÁ, Michaela
Main topic of this thesis is implementation of a new levy on electrocity generated by solar radiation, so called solar tax, which was imlemented in 2011 to affect all solar power stations starting their operations between years 2009-2010. The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate the impact of the solar tax on providers of this type of electrocity, who were not aware about it in advance before realization of their projects. In the first part of the thesis there is a description of the basic terminology regarding renewable energy and its forms, solar energy and discharge of electricity from solar radiation. The second part focuses on the characteristics of solar power Mříč a comparison of actual and projected costs and revenues after the introduction of solar tax. For selling prices the tax is set 26%, while for the green bonuses it is 28%. Results suggest that in the year of implementation of the solar tax the true expenses for providers were much higher compared to their expected values, which led to practically zero profits.
Analysis of the influence of energy prices on stove saleability as an alternative source of heating
Bohumínský, Roman ; Chytilová, Helena (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
Since it is possible to observe quite stable rise in prices of energies, the question whether households are reacting by substituting the sources of energies arises. In this aspect, households can reduce their costs mainly on heating. That is why this thesis analyses the link between prices of coal, electricity, natural gas, wood (in exchange and supplier forms -- these being the independent variables) and sales of stoves which are used as dependent variable and are viewed as an alternative source of heating leading to possible cost reduction. We also calculate with the average wage, unemployment and temperature. The data source consists of time series following years 2011 and 2012 which were collected on daily basis in Czech Republic. To quantify this link, we introduce 8 different OLS estimates differing in price and properties of the stoves. We managed to verify the link between energy prices, unemployment, average wage and sales of stoves. We have found out that there is negative relation between wood and even coal prices, which are accounted as complements to stoves. Positive significant relation is present for prices of natural gas and also for the average wage. When we divided the dataset according to average price of stoves, we acquired different magnitudes of response for data obtained from stock exchange and suppliers of energies. By this division, we detected positive effect of unemployment (unfortunately slightly nonsignificant) with cheaper stoves and negative effect with more expensive ones.
