UNIVERSAL BASIC OPRESSION
Růžičková, Martina ; Jánoščík,, Václav (referee) ; Sterec, Pavel (advisor)
Master's thesis Polyamory Design Unit (PDU) explores the possibilities of collaboration between experts being active in fine arts, product design, graphic design, architecture and philosophy in order to create a speculative future scenario. Together with Jana Trundova, Simon Barak, Ondrej Mohyla and Lukas Likavcan, I create the concept and the presentation structure for a housing complex, which is designed for polyamoric coexistence of human and non-human entities. Such a coexistence is made possible by full automation of work and global implementation of universal basic income. These initial parameters constitute a big emancipatory potential, that could change present meaning of the concept of polyamory and thus redefine networks of relations in bigger scales too.
"Polyamory Has Always Been There Somehow" - Women's Experiences With Polyamory
Tóthová, Tereza ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Frunc, Ondřej (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the phenomenon of polyamory, an alternative form of experiencing partner relationships in which it is possible and acceptable to love more than one person simultaneously. This thesis examines how women who have experience with polyamory relationships evaluate this experience, what meanings they attribute to their experiences with polyamory and how polyamory influences their construction of self. The thesis also focuses on the influence of social norms and expectations associated with partnership and female sexuality in Western society. Thus, the goal is to describe how women experience polyamory and to explain to what extent society stigmatizes this relationship arrangement and how polyamorists deal with it. The findings in the analytical part of the work derive from the analysis of nine in-depth interviews conducted with women who have experience with polyamorous relationships. These interviews were analysed using the qualitative method of segmentation and coding. The findings of this research are divided into four areas. The first area reflects women's experiences with polyamory and includes the presentation and reflection of their self-identity and journey to polyamorous relationships. Henceforth, the thesis reveals the manifestations of the stigmatization of...

Svobodová, Michaela ; Spalová, Barbora (advisor) ; Kotík, Michal (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with a new social phenomenon polyamory, an alternative form of a relationship, in which individuals have more relationships at the same time. The biographic study focuses on polyamory identity construction within biographic interview with participating individuals in the Czech Republic. The objective of the thesis is to present how polyamory is perceived by those who practice it in the society and culture where monogamous relationship is a standard. Based on the analysis, common features of polyamorists' biographies are presented (previous non-monogamous relationships, motives, rules). Polyamory in the present thesis is interpreted by Anthony Giddens's theoretical concept of pure relationship, too. The key part of the paper focuses on application of R. Sternberg's triangular love theory applied to polyamory and components form of passion intimacy and commitment in polyamory respondents' relationships. The thesis encompasses competence model proposal for polyamorists based on the final hypothesis which avers that polyamory is a skill/ability.
Polyamory: the new trend or return to the roots?
Hrstková, Michaela ; Kotík, Michal (advisor) ; Kozubík, Jan (referee)
The main theme of this bachelor thesis is the construction of intimacy in polyamorous relationships. Polyamory is a a practise of beeing allowed to have close emotional and sexual relationship with multiple people while all of the people concerned knows about it and agree with it. The transformation of the traditional nuclear family during last few decades encouraged a rise of polyamory and other non strictly monogamous relationships. I conducted a qualitative research consisted of parcipant observation in czech polyamory community and eight semi- structured interview with polyamorous people. These methods helped me to observe how intimacy is shared among more than two people and how they solve problems in relationship. In polyamory people emphasize even more on the values as openness, sharing, these values are also typical for strong intimate relationship as well as for the Giddens' idea of pure relationship. I also compare polyamorous to monogamous relationships.
