The position of Austria in the international tourism market

Diploma thesis focuses on the position of Austria as a tourism destination on the international tourism market. First chapter defines the basic theoretical terms. Second chapter includes the elemental characteristics of the territory, presents the macroeconomic indicators and the position of tourism in the national economy. Third chapter introduces the tourism analysis of Austria. This chapter summarizes the main preconditions for tourism and the analysis of incoming, outgoing and domestic tourism. The end of this chapter contains also the destination's SWOT analysis. Fourth chapter focuses on the country's competitiveness in comparison to the Alpine states and bases on the rankings and results in the TTCI and GCI indexes. Fifth chapter takes a closer look at the destination's potential for Czech customers. This chapter is based on a questionnaire survey. Last chapter contains the summaries of main Austrian tourism trends, evaluates tourism position in the economy and based on regression analysis presents the prediction of destination's tourism turnout by foreign visitors.
Privatization in Austria and the change of consociationalism (1986 - 1999)

The thesis examines the process of privatization in Austria in the 1990s and its relation to the change of consociationalism. The privatization of the Austrian economy was not only a big economic, but political event of the modern Austrian history. The public sector of economy which included seven dozens of manufacturing firms and two large state banks, became an important part of the consociational political culture which aim on achieving of social consensus. The thesis presents the historical, economic and political development of the Austrian public economy and conditions of decision-making of two big political parties as representatives of two main social-political camps, SPÖ and ÖVP, in the privatization issue. Moreover, there is presented in detail the process of financial rehabilitation and privatization during the governing of the "big coalition" of the Austrian social democratic party and the Austrian people's party (1986-1999). In the final part of the thesis is judged whether (and how) contributed the privatization of the state economy to the change of the political culture of consociationalism from the point of view: a) electoral dominance SPÖ and ÖVP, b) social partnership, c) position Austria in the international political and economic relations.
Position of Austria in the world's economy

The purpose of the graduation thesis "Position of Austria in the world's economy" is to analyse the Austrian economy and its development in the light of basic macroeconomic aggregates in recent years in detail. It also desribes the situation of the country in a global financial crisis and its reaction. The thesis tries to reveal the strongpoints and weakpoints of Austrian economy. Austria is always compared to other countries, to the world and European economy. This thesis is divided into five chapters, which closely deal with following subjects: gross domestic product, labour market, emloyment and education, monetary policy, balance of payments and eventually the financial crisis from Austrian view. The content of this thesis is purely economic. It goes into other subjects only marginally.
