Structural and Petrophysical Characterisation of Granite Intended for Radioactive Waste Stocking
Staněk, Martin ; Lexa, Ondrej (advisor) ; Žák, Jiří (referee) ; David, Christian (referee)
Structural and petrophysical analysis have been conducted within the Melechov massif with focus on structures controlling the porosity, permeability and thermal conductivity of the rock. The structure of the massif has been constrained based on extensive dataset including AMS and field structural measurements of ductile and brittle structures. Maps and stereograms have been constructed to display the magnetic fabrics and the fracture system of the studied massif. The fracture system of the massif has been described by two principal and two supplementary sets of joints and by faults formed mainly by joint reactivation or less frequently formed as shear fractures. The measured petrophysical data have been used to characterize the effect of fracturing and alteration on pore space geometry and in turn on permeability, thermal conductivity and elastic properties of the studied granite. Distinct petrophysical properties have been identified for pristine granite, for fractured fresh granite as well as for fractured granite altered by Fe-oxide, chlorite and clay minerals. Relations between the measured petrophysical properties have been explained in terms of evolution of the rock pore space. A detailed microstructural study combined with multidirectional P-wave velocity measurements at high confining pressure and...

Kusbach, Vladimír ; Ulrich, Stanislav (advisor) ; Vanderhaeghe, Olivier (referee) ; Tommasi, Andrea (referee) ; Whitechurch, Hubert (referee)
Quantification of fabrics and magmatic textures of rhyolite extrusive domes
Hrudková, Kristýna ; Lexa, Ondrej (advisor) ; Závada, Prokop (referee)
Bubbles in rhyolites are being formed during ascension of rhyolite magma up to the surface. That is beacuse of decreasing content of dissolved water in melt. Stability of bubbles is kept constant because of their own internal pressure, which they are able to sustain for a long period. Some bubbles can occure after the fragmentation of magma in extrusive bodies on the surface. Bubbles created this way have very small size and they don't participate in fragmentation. In my thesis I'm dealing with internal structure of some rhyolite magmatic bodies and description of mechanisms of bubble formation. Furthermore I will concentrate on methods of quantification of the internal structure of extrusive domes, i.e. the AMS magnetic minerals population structure and texture analysis of rock incisions. Texture analysis was concentrated on some aspects, which could help us to assess the extent of distribution of bubbles in strips. In conclusion, I compare the results of these methods to evaluate the importance of individual structural elements for structural-geological interpretation. We investigated samples from extrusive rhyolite body, which are being formed during the gradual egression of magma on the surface. We were investigated bubbles and their realtions between each other by using several methods. On the...
Fabrics of the Weinsberg granitoids on example of the Prášily pluton (Moldanubický plutonický komplex)
Pour, Ondřej ; Verner, Kryštof (advisor) ; Racek, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis is concerned with the brief introduction to the structures and fabrics in granitoid plutons. In the next part of this work are sumarized results of structural analyses of Weinsberg-type granite intrusion (Prášily pluton) located in the SW part of high-grade rocks of the Moldanubian Zone. This research proceeded based on a combination of field structural data and results of AMS (Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility) method. The internal fabrics and structures of the Prášily pluton reflect emplacement mechanisms, kinematic history and evolution of the regional strain field during Variscan orogeny at around 330 Ma. The examined area provides crucial constraints for the geodynamic models of geological evolution of deeper parts of the Variscan orogen in the SW part of the Bohemian Massif.
Comparison of Atmospheric Aerosol Volatility at a Suburban and Rural Measurement Site.
Kubelová, Lucie ; Vodička, Petr ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Makeš, Otakar ; Ždímal, Vladimír
One of the most important characteristics of atmospheric aerosols is their volatility. Volatility affects the formation, life time, and removal of aerosol particles (Huffman et al., 2009). Accurate description of volatility of atmospheric aerosols can lead to a better identification of their sources and it is also crucial for models incorporating condensation and aging of aerosols. However, there is still a lack of knowledge regarding aerosol properties such as volatility especially in case of organic aerosols. To increase our understanding of aerosols volatility, we have performed summer (21.8.-2.10.2012; 17.6.-18.8.2014) and winter (19.2.-28.5.2013; 9.1.-13.3.2014) measurement campaigns with a thermodenuder at a suburban site in Prague Suchdol and at a rural site Košetice, respectively.

Adaptive System Design in a Reconfigurable Platform Using the Embedded Analog-to-Digital Converter
Zamba, Martin ; Růžička, Richard (referee) ; Dobai, Roland (advisor)
This thesis has its main subject pointed on possibilities of exploiting reconfigurable digital systems on FPGA basis in mixed signal applications. Description of reconfigurable and adaptive systems in general and summary of known architectures is presented in first part of this work. Next, possibilities of exploiting configurability of FPGAs in conjunction with XADC digital to analog converter are examined. These converters are provided in 7-series FPGAs and Zynq-7000 systems from Xilinx. Concept of exploiting XADC for inductance measurements is presented as alternative to existing solution - LDC1000 integrated circuit provided by Texas Instruments. Such system utilizing FPGA and XADC would come with a lot of benefits: better system integration, better signal processing options, possibility of constructing adaptive system with numerous sensory elements and last but not least, lower system cost. Advantages and disadvantages of such approach are analyzed in the very final part of this work and possible options for extension of this work are presented.

Highly Time-Resolved Aerosol Measurement at a Suburban Site in Prague
Kubelová, Lucie ; Vodička, Petr ; Schwarz, Jaroslav ; Makeš, Otakar ; Ždímal, Vladimír
Highly time-resolved measurements of atmospheric aerosols are important as they enable us to elucidate the aerosol sources and lifecycle processes (Zhang, 2011). In our study we carried out two six-week measurements of submicron fraction of nonrefractory atmospheric aerosol. The measurement was performed with 1-minute resolution and analysed with respect to influence of meteorological conditions. The measurement was done as a part of a pan-European project ACTRIS.
