Study of the behavior of selected rocks at high temperatures
Holanec, Aleš ; Sitek,, Libor (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the observation and diagnostics of transformations that take place in stone slabs of different mineralogical composition during heating to high temperatures. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with a summary of available information about selected types of rocks. Furthermore, it presents findings from the experimental thermal loading of a granite sample. The principles and instruments of laboratory experimental methods that are used to judge the resistance of rocks are described in detail. In the experimental part, the testing methodology is proposed, the procedure of production of rock test specimens is described and the way in which the thermal loading of stone slabs took place is explained. The results of the experiments are shown in the tables and graphs. A comparison of individual tests and properties of selected samples and evaluation of the obtained results is performed.
Diamond wheels and their use in the stone industry
Skryja, Jan ; Kolář, Ladislav (referee) ; Jaroš, Aleš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with stone sawing during stone processing. It is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part diamond blades, the sawing process and stone extraction are described. The practical part is focused on the wear of circular saws in granite circular sawing. The wear is determined for two diamond cutting blades made by different manufacturers and is determined by the blade weight loss and segments height loss as a function of time. Both measured values show linear dependence. The results are the basis for a future comparison of the two diamond blades on the economic side, which is not the subject of this work.
Mechanical properties of granitoid rocks of the Moldanubian batholith in the context of a planned deep underground radioactive waste repository
Brabec, Marek ; Horák, Vladislav (referee) ; Krmíček, Lukáš (advisor)
The author of this bachelor thesis carried out a study of the mechanical and physical properties of granites exposed both on Čeřínek hill, which represents the central part of the delineated polygon of the Hrádek site, and in the nearby active Rácov quarry near the village of Růžená. In the theoretical part of the thesis the author describes the geology of the investigated site and the methods used to determine the investigated properties. In the practical part of the thesis the results and outputs obtained from the measurements are mentioned and discused. The practical part of the thesis presents and discuses the results and outputs obtained from field and laboratory measurements.
Influence of the mixing plant manufacturing temperatures on the properties of aggregates
Brtníková, Tereza ; Stehlík, Dušan (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis describes the production process of aggregate and production process of asphalt mixing in batch asphalt mixing plant. There is also mentioned the test procedure of endurance against grind and against freezing and defrosting. The tests were did on 3 types of rocks, which have been burdened by temperature on 110 °C, 200 °C and 300 °C. Then were the results compared.
Návrh nábytkového solitéru s použitím dřeva a kamene
Borbélyová, Jozefína
The thesis deals with the design of table furniture for a public interior in the form of a solitaire. It highlights the importance of using sustainable materials, interprets the trend of returning to nature, emphasizing the use of given materials such as solid wood and natural stone. The work includes the design of a coffee table complemented by a collection of bar and dining tables as a possible transformation and use of design. The visual application of the theme is aimed more at the demanding customers asking for high quality solitaires for their hotel or café interiors. Therefore, the thesis deals with the analysis of individual materials, typology and ergonomics of table furniture, evaluation of the historical context and selected solutions from the present in the theoretical part. Finally, it summarizes the safety requirements and the legislation in force for the product in question. The practical part presents the all-encompassing design process, including variants, the final design itself, its justification, and conveys the entire production process of the prototype.
Granites of Prague stone arch bridges in 19th c.: sources, properties, and weathering
Rauvolfová, Hana ; Přikryl, Richard (advisor) ; Krutilová, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis deals with the topic of the degradation of granite masonry, which was used for the construction of two stone arch bridges in Prague. Granite is used as a popular building material for its high durability however it is still necessary to check the condition of the masonry, especially in cities where stone is subject to different degradation process than stone in nature is exposed to. The first chapter is devoted to description of granite from a petrographic point of view, its physical and chemical properties and the important properties that makes it a popular building stone. Furthermore, the classification of granitic rocks and important quarries in Czech Republic is described here. The next chapter is dedicated to the description of the degradation process that negatively affect the rock. Degradation processes are divided into three categories: physical, chemical and biodegradation. Degradation processes are described here in general, but the results of tests performed when measuring degradation on granite historical buildings from abroad are also presented here. The last part of this thesis is dedicated to stone arch bridges, their most common faults and repair methods. They focus more on the two Prague bridges from the 19th century, the Legií bridge and the Palacký bridge, for the...
Selected rocky areas in Czech Republic and options for their protection
KRČMÁŘOVÁ, Tereza
The submitted work is focused on selected rock-climbing areas in the Czech Republic, characterizes those areas by terms of their location and the predominant type of rock, shows and describes the characteristics of the individual rocks, including their propensity to destruction by natural as well as anthropogenic factors. Included in this work is also a brief introduction to the history of rock climbing in our country and describing the differences in the rock-climbing techniques and the usage of different rock-climbing equipment on each type of rock. The last part focuses on the possibilities of protection of often inadvertently damaged rocky areas, including photo documentation of the various types of damage with added commentary.

Vlastnosti kuchyňských pracovních ploch
Plodíková, Lucie
This thesis deals with the surface of kitchen worktops. There are evaluated the physic-mechanical properties, chemical properties, ecological properties and also utility and visual properties of some selected worktop materials and decors. There are also analysed the requirements to worktop surfaces. In this thesis are verified these physic-mechanical and chemical properties and utility - resistance to cold liquids, resistance to wet heat, resistance to dry heat, resistance to falling ball and determine the surface hardness, surface gloss and colour shade of surface. Appropriate test were applied on these worktop materials - laminated worktop, compact laminate, Solid Surface (Technistone), Quartz Surface (Avonite) and granite.
