Possibilities for the development of cognitive function in the elderly

This diploma thesis entitled "Possibilities of the development of cognitive functions in the elderly" deals with the issue of activition of seniors, through which there is a development or at least the preservation of existing abilities of seniors. At the same time, the effort is to prevent damage to cognitive functions, which naturally weaken due to old age. The theoretical part describes and characterizes the developmental period of old age, cognitive functions and their possible disorders occurring in the elderly. Here the work focuses on the desciption of dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, the possible causes, the course of the disease and clinical manifestations, consequences and therapeutic approaches. The third chapter is a key part, because the work deals with possible non-pharmecological approaches and activation of seniors. The empirical part describes the activation activities carried out by the Home for the elderly Háje, where the research was carried out. The empirical part focouses on the activition of intact clients and clients suffering from Parkinson's disease.
