Boříková, Barbora ; Míšková, Alena (advisor) ; Václavů, Lubor (referee)
This diploma thesis briefly describes the situation in the region of Plzeň throughout the period between the signature of the Munich Agreement and the end of the Second World War in the background of the international events and with special emphasis on everyday life. It also monitors the course of events in the field of domestic resistance and its cooperation with the foreign representatives; it provides a list of resistance movement organizations operating in the region of Plzeň. The majority of the thesis deals with the resistance movement in the district of Nýřany, which has been a part of the Plzeň - North district since 1960. This part of the thesis describes not only the organized resistance movement (the communist and the democratic one) but also the spontaneous actions performed by the individuals. The thesis depicts the story of several people who participated in the resistance movement against the Nazis and whose lives were deeply affected by the Nazi persecution. The aim of the thesis is to point out the domestic resistance situation in the background of the above-mentioned stories in the industrial area of Nýřany.
Czechoslovak Broadcasting Company in the 20's and 30's of the 20th Century
Mrázek, Daniel ; Pokorný, Jiří (advisor) ; Václavů, Lubor (referee)
Broadcast transmission started in the Czech Republic in the 18th of May 1923 under the sponsorship of Radiojournal (RJ). Nobody suspected how important role it will play in the future. Actually, it was thought of it only as a technical attraction, considering wireless spread of human voice a miracle. It is why the propagation and evaluation of the broadcast was not much dependent on the provided program, but preferably on the fact that it was a wireless broadcast. The introduction of a new media has never caused such a revolution and to a certain extent a shock as in the case of the broadcast. In fact, broadcast is the oldest electronic medium. Even though the introduction of television or internet caught some attention, it was far from such a surprise; it was always only "improvement of something known". The broadcast is based on the principles that no one knew before. It was one of the reasons why it was accepted with doubts at the beginning. However, after some time, people realised, that broadcast is a good device for spreading of information. Originally a technical attraction, the broadcast became an irreplaceable part in the word of media. Of course, its role was to amuse and spread information, but - and that was more important - to concentrate on the culture and to educate. The typical parts of the...

Changes of the town of Ceska Kamenice beetwen the years 1945-1951
Müllerová, Vanda ; Václavů, Lubor (advisor) ; Zilynskyj, Bohdan (referee)
As it results from the title, the work is focused on the historical evolution of Ceska Kamenice in the period of years from 1945 to 1951. May 1945 seems to be the turning point of the further development of Ceska Kamenice. The German inhabitants, who had represented the majority population so far, were at once qualified as political unreliable and in light of important changes that were expected, discriminating regulations started to be carried out against them. In the meantime the Czech from various parts of the Republic began to come there. Some of them beholded their arrival just as an oportunity to feather their nests, but of course there were those too, who decided to stay and settle down in the town. They gained the national stewardship and started their new lives. However, some of the new settlers had to leave the town again because the stewardship was not always taken over by people who were the most competent and qualified. Assigning to this office as well as being resigned from, often became the demonstration of potencial power. The first months in Ceska Kamenice were accompanied by injustice and tyrany. Units of troops and guerrilla forces that settled in the town tyrannized both, Czech and German inhabitants and the endeavour to stop it was suppressed. These events were only revealed in 1947...
First steps towards February 1948. The Moscow negotiations of the Czechoslovak exile in March 1945
Čuchna, Matěj ; Václavů, Lubor (advisor) ; Míšková, Alena (referee)
This thesis concentrates on the subject of the Moscow negotiations in March 1939 and preceeding and following events. The Moscow negotiations are considered to be the starting point of the Communist seizure of power in Czechoslovakia, leading to their moment of final triumph in February 1948. Near the very end of the Second World War, members of the Czechoslovak exile government, together with president Edvard Beneš, traveled to Moscow in order to discuss several political, economical and military issues with the Soviets. The issue of highest importance, however, were talks between the democratic Czechoslovak representatives from London and Czechoslovak Communists who have taken refuge in Moscow aftet the beginning of the war. It is not an exaggeration to say that everything was at stake. Literally, these talks were to define the long-term future of Czechoslovakia and, indeed, sadly, they had. While the democrats, arrived unprecedently unprepaired, the Communists had already elaborated a complete government program (later passed, with only minor changes, as the Košice Government Program), unsurprisingly very leftist and pro-Soviet. In military terms, the Communists gained strategic initiative and forced the democrats into a passive role with a very little potential for making any significant changes to the...
Rudolf Lodgman von Auen and his relationships with Bohemia
History of the transports Dl and Dm from Teresienstadt to Auschwitz
Strmisková, Sabina ; Míšková, Alena (advisor) ; Václavů, Lubor (referee)
The theme of this thesis is the history of two transports, transports Dl and Dm dispatched september 6 1943 from ghetto Terezín to Auschwitz. It is possible to find a lot of information in many publications, but this thesis introduces this subject throught testimonies of eyewitnesses. Starting with the family background, continuing with deportation to Theresienstadt from where the transports were dispatched. Concerning the transport to Auschwitz, I elaborated its characteristics looking at the age and sex of the transported inmates. Due to the witness's testimonies, I tried to concentrate on the history of two day's journey to the biggest extermination camp during the second world war. And the eyewitness's testimonies are illustrating all the welcoming ceremony, the desinfection, tattoo and dormitory allocation. In my thesis, I would like to describe the Terezin inmates' biannual stay in family camp B IIb, tragical death of 3 792 of them at night of 8 to 9 March 1944, seeking to recreate the Dr. Mengele's list of medical personnel and twins. Finally, I would like to emphasise the fate of 41 survivors of those transports.
