Selenium uptake by the organism of the spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR)
Růnová, Karolína ; Száková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the effect of increased intake of selenium from the diet of rats with spontaneous hypertension (SHR) on other essential elements. The effect of different diets on the element levels in kidney, liver, testes, and blood of rats was observed under model conditions. Tested rats were divided into five groups, where the first group A was the reference group and feed mixture contained no additive. In groups B and C was soybean meal replaced by defatted rapeseed and into feed mixture of group C was additionally added vitamin E. Diet groups D and E contained added selenium and zinc, and group E contained additionally vitamin E in comparison to reference group A. Se content in kidney, liver, testicles, and blood of animals was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP MS). The other essential elements (Cu, Fe, Mn, P, S, and Zn) were determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP OES). The content of Ca, K and Mg was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry with flame atomizer (F-AAS). The hypothesis has been that the increased intake of selenium should improve the use of other essential elements by the rat organism. It was expected that there will be influenced elements mainly involved in the defense of the organism against oxidative stress. This was not confirmed by this experiment. Changes in the concentrations of these elements occurred only at very high dose of selenium that is already toxic to the organism. This toxic effect could be also responsible for fifty percent mortality of rats in group E, where perhaps even increased concentration of vitamin E could not sufficiently reduce the toxicity of high doses of selenium.
Investing in the Financial Market
Strnad, Jaromír ; Pfeiferová, Daniela (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
The theoretical part focuses on creating a basic comprehensive overview related to the functioning of financial markets. This is then supplemented with essential facts that are focused on investing in mutual funds, investment risk, volatility and other important factors that form the information basis for every investor. In the practical part, they are composed on the basis of the investment portfolio used by a virtual portfolio approach to investing. These portfolios are based on real data and the amount of one million crowns is placed in a model investment in both portfolios. Individual mutual funds are analyzed both individually and in relation to the portfolio they belong to. To create relevant and quantifiable conclusions, elements of technical analysis indicators in the form of beta coefficient of determination and CAPM (Capital Asset Pricing Model) are used. The final part consists of a unique model that compares and consequently clearly demonstrates the difference in the effectiveness of the implementation of regular investments compared to a single one within the both created investment portfolios.

Assess the current state of nutrition of horses in the specific stables and proposal optimal doses according to the their performance
Burcalová, Helena ; Mudřík, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
This work deals with calculations of feed rations of selected thoroughbred horses at the High School of Horse Racing in Prague together with an assessment of economic aspects of horse feeding. The school is mainly focused on the education of jockeys, which means that the work with horses has to conform to the school requirements that need not meet the ideal feeding rhythm of the horses. United Kingdom norms were compared to the selected Czech norms. Focus was mainly on the racing season, which provides direct comparison of the feed rations with the horses results in the races. The racing season has the highest energetic requirements that need to take into account not only the requirements for the races themselves but also for the resting periods. Feed rations were measured and fed in precise time intervals. Main feeds were oats, hay, bran and Spillers feeds. During the assessment period a negative side - effect of high temperatures during consecutive heat - wave periods was observed. This aspect may prove important in the future and needs to be taken into account not only for feeding but for the entire horse training. Out of five examined horses, exceedance of digestible energy requirements was observed with two horses and underestimation with one horse. For two of them the anomaly was in norm. However, the horse with the highest exceedance was experiencing difficulties with feeding, always leaving a part of the ration intact. This made it necessary to adapt the rations to a higher figure than calculated. Economic aspect of horse feeding needs to be taken into account. The feeding expenses can be decreased by a suitable selection of a feeding mix, however the savings in this regard are not fundamental.
The role of employment offices in the process of applying the policy of active employment
Brožová, Miluše ; Světlíková, Daniela (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
This diploma thesis examines the role of the regional branches of the Employment Office of the Czech Republic in the framework of applying the active employment policy. It thematically focuses on the tools of active employment policy used by the Employment Office in the Region of Ústí nad Labem. Particular attention is paid to retraining, community services and programmes of socially beneficial jobs. At these chosen tools it has been ascertained if the regional branches of the Czech Employment Office have an effective system of efficiency evaluation and which of the tools they consider most effective. Then the tools of active employment policy in the Region of Ústí nad Labem have been reviewed from the point of view of their applicability by the most endangered groups and it has been ascertained which tools of active employment policy were in this sense most effective and which groups they were focused on.

Spanish Real Estate Market Analysis
Melnikova, Yulia ; Procházka, Petr (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
At the beginning of 2000-ies the real estate market of residential property in Spain considered to be one the most popular and fast-growing real estate market in Europe, which attracted a great number of investment into the country and thus contributed greatly to the development of the national economy of Spain. However, because of the economic crisis in the country, residential real estate market collapsed significantly. At the present time, the Spanish real estate market of residential property market is recovering from the recession to the pre-crisis level as the prices for residential real estate property has started increasing due to the high demand for it. All this factors positively affect the national economy of Spain. In order to obtain the major aim of the thesis, it is crucial to conduct a retrospective overview of the residential real estate market of Spain before the crisis and provide a bene-ficial real estate market analysis of the current situation on the market of residential proper-ty.
Effect of evening primrose oil om selected physiological parameters of thoroughbred horses under training conditions
Mikešová, Kateřina ; Hučko, Boris (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
Physical exercise increases tissue demand for oxygen and cell respiration, resulting in the generation of free radicals and reactive oxygen species. Overproduction of oxidants exceeding the cellular antioxidant capacity results in oxidative stress. Oxidative stress leads to tissue damage of a wide range of biomolecules and causes metabolic changes that consequently influence performance. To protect against oxidative stress, the body has an effective antioxidant defence system, including non-enzymatic and enzymatic components. The antioxidative effect of evening primrose oil (EPO) administration on the oxidative stress of race horses during their regular training period was determined. The eight-week experiment was performed on ten clinically healthy thoroughbred horses. All the horses were enrolled in a regular training program. Eight weeks before the experiment, the horses were fed a diet which remained the same for the following eight weeks, only supplemented with 150 ml EPO (blood samplings 3 times). Total antioxidant reactivity, thiobarbituric acid reacting substances, uric acid, levels, activities of muscle enzymes, eg. aspartate aminotransferase, creatine kinase, and parameters of fatty acid metabolism such as triacylglycerols and nonesterified fatty acids were determined. Average values of TAS after supplementation with EPO rose gradually and were detected at significantly higher levels in the sixth week in comparison with the control. The concentration of malondialdehyde, measured as TBARS, decreased significantly compared with the untreated control. The activities of AST and CK fluctuated, but no disturbance was demonstrated in muscle homeostasis. The present results indicate that the total antioxidant activity of the thoroughbred horses fed a diet supplemented with EPO was higher, and it helped stabilize the permeability of the muscle cell membranes in the horses at full workload.
Theory and practice of tracer tests in environmental protection
Šimek, Pavel ; Komárek, Michael (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
Successful predictions of the fate and transport of solutes in the subsurface is based on the availability of accurate transport parameters. Analytical solutions to the advective-dispersive solute-transport equation are useful in predicting the fate of solutes in ground water. Analytical solutions compiled from available literature are presented for one dimension solute transport in uniform ground water flow. These solutions are used for tracer test data interpretation. Tracer testing is generally regarded as the most reliable and efficient method of gathering subsurface hydrogeological information. A user-oriented computer program Mipar 2.0 was created to for estimating solute transport parameters from observed concentrations (the inverse problem) or for predicting solute concentrations (the direct problem) using the advection-dispersion equation as the transport model. The methods used for interpretation are based on the described analytical solutions. The program usability was verified on field data and on data from literature.
