The "Myth" of Kundera
Stejskalová, Anita ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)
The Bachelor thesis the "Myth" of Kundera deals with a description of myth and mythization of the character of the author Milan Kundera. The main source are Kundera's essays, as well as journalistic texts dealing with the character of Milan Kundera. The first part of the work briefly outlines how the myth developed to its modern conception. This is reflected in the work mainly from the point of view of the semiotics of Roland Barthes. The concept of emblematic reduction is explained and put into context in relation to modern myths. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the description of the three sub-sections that are involved in the constitution of the Kundera myth. On the basis of these sub-sections, the three areas of research are outlined: novelism and how it is thematised in Kundera's essays, the influence of space and Kundera's national self-identification on the creation of myth, and the case concerning the accusation that Kundera had been an informer, which took place in the media in 2008.
