Novel polymeric materials for electromembrane processes

Present study describes synthesis, characterizations and electrochemical properties of novel materials or novel approaches of preparation and their testing for suitability in industrial application. Work is divided into two main groups. First group is focused on preparation and characterization of ion-exchange membranes and second group is focused on preparation and characterization of ionic liquids. Sanction mechanism in sport

Title: Sanction mechanism in sport Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to analyse the sanction mechanisms applied in sports, their mutual relationship, the extent of autonomy of sport on the law, the answer to the question whether this condition is satisfactory and give suggestions to solve the alleged deficiencies. Cell-biomaterial interactions in hard and soft tissue engineering

Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary field which aims to create substitutes of damaged tissues by combining cells with biomaterials. Cells are extremely sensitive to their microenvironment and so the cell response to biomaterials can be regulated by different extrinsic stimuli and alterations of biomaterial properties. Successful implant integration into the tissue can therefore be promoted by appropriate surface roughness, chemical composition, adhesion ligand density, as well as the availability of growth factors. This thesis mainly focuses on the development of orthopedic replacements and the improvement of the currently used blood vessel prostheses. Through the study of cell-biomaterial interactions, it was demonstrated that superimposed topography with features ranging from the nano to micro scale promotes cell spreading, proliferation, and the metabolic activity of osteoblast-like cells. Moreover, when comparing the chemical composition of biomaterials for orthopedic implants, higher osteoblast densities were observed on composites with 5-15 vol. % of calcium phosphate nanoparticles, while concentrations of 25 vol. % did not support cell proliferation. Bioethanol as a renewable energy source

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá sledováním fermentačních postupů zaměřených na produkci ethanolu. Ethanol je produkován kvasinkami anebo bakteriemi Zymomonas mobilis. Zymomonas mobilis je gramnegativní bakterie, která se vyznačuje vysokým teoretickým výtěžkem ethanolu během fermentace a toleruje vysokou koncentraci ethanolu. Přestože je Zymomonas mobilis výborným producentem ethanolu, není vhodná pro konverzi biomasy, protože zkvašuje pouze glukosu, fruktosu a sacharosu. Tato práce se zabývá fermentačními testy bakterie rodu Zymomonas mobilis na širokém spektru substrátů za rozdílných podmínek. Byl sledován proces výroby ethanolu pomocí Zymomonas mobilis, konkrétně kmeny z České sbírky mikroorganismů CCM 2770, CCM 2771, CCM 3881 a CCM 3883. Porovnávány byly kultivace na různých typech medií (sacharosovém, fruktosovém, glukosovém a obilné zápary) při různých koncentracích uhlíkatého zdroje a za různých podmínek (aerobní, anaerobní). Ke stanovení obsahu cukru a lihu bylo použito HPLC. Ukázalo se, že jsou vhodné především kmeny CCM 3881 a CCM 2770, které narostly během 48 hodin a bylo u nich dosaženo nejlepších výsledků výtěžnosti ethanolu ( až 99 % teoretického výtěžku). Kmeny CCM 3883 a CCM 2771 rostly velmi pomalu, produkce ethanolu u kmenu CCM 2771 byla zanedbatelná. Jako nejlepší substrát se jeví glukosa,...
