The beginnings of small businesses and small privatization process during the economic transformation period 1989-1994
Skála, Marek ; Krátká, Lenka (advisor) ; Houda, Přemysl (referee)
This thesis deals with the period of economic transformation in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic between the years 1990 and 1997. It is focused mainly on the change in thinking, behaviour patterns and values at the onset of the liberal market economy. This is investigated through establishing a new layer of entrepreneurs. The thesis is processed using the inductive method, when some processes at the level of several individuals and groups are related to wider groups, up to the entire society. In addition to traditional written resources, this processing allowed me to interview participants of the then processes. The interviews were conducted using the oral history method. The finding of this thesis consists in the fact that the end of the Communist regime and the onset of the pluralist democracy was the change only in the area of politics and law. In the area of the real economic life, they meant, however, the legalization of the quasi-market, which had existed in the period of real socialism. For this reason, the behaviour patterns from the past remained enrooted in the society and changed only in demanding processes and slowly. The thesis is a sectorial analysis of the transition period, which is a historically close period and as such it has an immediate impact on our present days. In...

Skála, Marek ; Vykoukal, Jiří (advisor) ; Smetana, Vít (referee)
This paper examines the influence of the Soviet Union on the foreign policy of the Czechoslovak government in exile towards the Polish government in exile. The aim is to determine, whether the influence of the Soviet Union was a major aspect affecting decisionmaking of the Czechoslovak government. I primarily focused on the crisis in relations between Czechoslovakia and Poland in the spring of 1943, and secondarily on the genesis of the relationships and events, which determined the decisions made by the governments at the time of crisis. The issue was addressed on the basis of series of documents from various international meetings, and also on the basis of secondary literature and memories of the persons involved at that time. It is therefore a historical analysis of international relations seeking motivation for particular actions of the Czechoslovak government in exile. It was thus found out that the influence of the Soviet Union was the main factor behind the interruption of negotiations about ...
Embankment
Skala, Marek ; Jebavý, Matouš (advisor) ; Slánský, Karel (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of urban waterfront. The aim of the paper is to work up a study with a solution of chosen area. Thesis is divided into two parts. First one is literature review which was written on the base of studying the aviable sources for a given topic. Second part is a project. Whole thesis contains various topics which are related to waterfronts. The paper defines various characteristics, qualities, functions and impacts of water to people and cities. During the development of the mankind the waterfronts gained different forms and functions which are imprinted in faces of today´s cities, making up one of the layers of every waterfront´s history. The importance of the water for human is pretty obvious. But what is the connection between city and water? Water can be harmonious and enriching element but alco a threat. Waterfrons can be diverse and be focused on different functions. But the ideal case is certainly combined use of the place which contains economics, ecological and social factors. Its not possible for cities to expand ever further these days. That´s why they look for inner expandation into old areas which they could regenerate. They can choose from many types of regenerations. They can be focused on protecting cities against floods, new program for existing areas or total reconstructions of lonely spaces. Riversides and their inudation zones are logically divided into several smaller fragments and for each of those there are some options for solutions during designing. Ecology-focused projects are kind of trendy nowadays and water bed revitalisations are not an exception. But it´s important to realize that the river in city has a different character than in countryside. Theory of how to create the successful waterfront is composed by combining theories of different authors. Those could form an interesting harmony together. Also by following instructions for a succesfull waterfront a man shoud realize the importance of pecieving every project as a complex of connected layers. And so was percieved the chosen area. It´s connected to the main square, sports fascilities and urban park with various experiences. Concept therefore sees a simple and efficient way to reflect needs of the city and especially locals. Idea enriches current composition with new element while respecting current values of the spot. Current highly technical form of the river is complementes with a touch if ekology and highlight of other walues. It is therefore necessary to renew waterfronts as a mixed-use places. We should use magnetic attraction of water and increase the aesthetic, cultural, social, economic and ecological values of every environment.Succesfull waterfront i sone of the strong pillars of the vibrant city.
