River management with regards to flood protection and revitalisation
Pastorková, Nikola ; Petrula, Lubomír (referee) ; Duchan, David (advisor)
The theme of this bachelor thesis is the hydraulic assessment of water flow capacity in the river kilometer 12,227 – 17,979, at flows Q5, Q20 and Q100 using 1D and 2D model in the program HEC-RAS 5.0.7. From the results of the overflows, flood protection measures have been proposed in two locations in the urban area and the revitalization of the stream has been also proposed. Furthermore, a hydraulic verification of the flood protection design took place.
River regulation with regard to the flood protection and revitalization
Kuneta, Tomáš ; Petrula, Lubomír (referee) ; Duchan, David (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the assessment of the part of the Svratka River. River Svratka flows through the city Brno. Area of interest is located in the southern part of Brno, specifically in the Brno - Modřice district. Hydraulic calculation is based on available geometric and hydrologic documents. The Svratka River Capacity Assessment was performed using 1D model in the HEC-RAS. Flood protection measure was designed based on the hydraulic calculations.
River regulation and flood protection
Pechová, Kamila ; Petrula, Lubomír (referee) ; Duchan, David (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on a proposal for adjustment of a flow with a consideration of an anti-flood protection and a revitalization the Svitava river in Bílovice nad Svitavou. Based on a course of the height of the water level discovered from a computational model from the HEC-RAS program is designed an anti-flood protection of the flow and this way the spilling of the river from an intravilan is prevented.
The Třebařovský creek. Assessment of small scale river.
Pikhartová, Karolína ; Petrula, Lubomír (referee) ; Julínek, Tomáš (advisor)
The objective of this thesis is to assess current condition of the small river Třebařovsky potok situated in partly urbanized area. The reach of interest is in km 0,000 to 4,320. Assessment involved evaluation of the channel capacity and stability of the river bed. Assessment was realized by solving the flow characteristics for series of discharges. Based on the results of the current conditions the proposal of the river training and other remediation measures was done.
Assessment of ground water contanination at the Přerov airport
Petrula, Lubomír ; Říha, Jaromír (referee) ; Julínek, Tomáš (advisor)
The main goal of this work is to assess ground water contamination at the Přerov airport as a consequence to oil products leakage. For this purpose a flow and transport model was created. Another goal is to create and assess several variations of unfavorable scenarios in terms of water quality. The final goal is to create a set of recommendations for the entire area.

One of the most dangerous processes that can occur on water retaining structures is deformation due to seepage. During these processes, a rearrangement of individual grains within the material happens and, in some cases, grains may be carried out of the material entirely. The dangerousness of such processes is given due to difficulty of their detection. A special case of deformations due to seepage is a backward erosion piping that occurs in the foundation of the structure (dams, weirs and such). During the process, a material is flushed out of the foundation due to forces induced by groundwater flow which leads to formation of the seepage pipe. The result of pipe progress may be a complete connection of spaces upstream and downstream the structure. Along with the pipe’s backward progression, its widening and increase in depth may be observed. Conditions of initialisation of backward erosion piping have been a topic for research since the beginning of 20th century. However, the data from experiments or even from direct observations on water retaining structures were focused mainly on general conditions and it did not pay enough attention to local conditions within the pipe nor on its tip where erosion occurs. Also, the speed of the whole process and the rate of backward erosion were not researched either. The pipe cross-sectional changes were researched only for materials with high contains of clay. The reason for using only clayey materials was given by ease of sample preparation. The goal of this work was to describe a process of the backward erosion piping that occurs in structure foundation. For this goal, a new device was designed, tested, and used for experimenting on picked uniform sands. After evaluation of obtained results, a new formula for calculation of backward erosion rate was derived. Based on the knowledge on hydraulic conditions in the sample and the pipe, a numeric model of the pipe progression was proposed.
