Multifunctional building

The subject of the diploma thesis is a project documentation of a multifunctional building within the scope of the implementing documentation. The main goal of the thesis is the design of the layout, construction and material solution, completed by design of the fire safety solutions and assessment in terms of building physics. The multifunctional building has one underground floor and nine above-ground floors. In the basement there are technical facilities of the building and a parking area, in the 1st floor there are business premises, in one part of the 2nd floor there is a gym and the remaining areas are used for administrative purposes as well as the entire 3rd to 9th floor. The construction system is designed as a reinforced concrete monolithic skeleton, completed by a reinforced concrete core. Ceiling structures are monolithic reinforced concrete locally supported slabs. The building is founded on the concrete slab placed on drilled shafts. The main element of the outer wall is curtain walling, which is made from a mullion-transom system.

The subject of this bachelor's thesis is a new building construction of an high-standard family house. This building is located in Brno-Žabovřesky. It is designated as an high-standard building not only for its usable area but also for its sports facilities with a swimming pool and a fully equipped gym. The family house is designed for a large family, a housekeeper included. The building has two floors above ground level with a partial basement. The building is brick with reinforced concrete ceilings and a flat green roof.

Bariatric surgery and compensation of diabetes

Introduction: Obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (hereinafter referred to as DM2T) are called the greatest epidemic of the 21st century. Its occurrence is on the rise not only in the Czech Republic but all around the world. Overweight and obesity are the key factors in developing DM2T, they are affecting the occurrence of the disease in men in 64 % and 77 % in women. Based on the observations, nearly 60 % of the population in the Czech Republic are considered obese or overweight. Bariatric/Metabolic surgery is one of the most effective treatments of the DM2T. Objectives: The objective of this thesis is to describe and analyze the effect of each bariatric surgery on the patients of 3rd Internal Clinic of Endocrinology and Metabolism, General University Hospital and 1st Medical Faculty, Charles University in Prague within the first two years post-surgery. The same time period is observed to monitor the DM2T compensation depending on the type of bariatric surgery. Methodology: 128 patients were observed (including 52 patients diagnosed with DM2T), that underwent the bariatric surgery. The data were gathered from the medical records in the hospital's information system Medea.
