Studies of contemporary student slang in Banja Luka

My thesis deals with the problems of language situation in Banja Luka and the most of all with the describing of contemporary student slang at University of Banja Luka with focus on Philosophical Faculty. Language behavior of local students is infuenced by the following factors: 1) language factors (standard language, dialect, sociolect, idiolect, foreign language), 2) non-language factors (demographical, economical, social and cultural). During the research stay in Banja Luka slang units were gathered by the means of questionnaire, observation, interview and other sociolinguistical methods. The slang units were sorted according to the determined criteria. There were two levels on which student slang in Banja Luka was being studied: lexical level and functional (communicative) level. This thesis has offered insight into the language situation in the student surroundings of University in Banja Luka in the academical year 2007/08. By this work a certain foundation for possible future research of Banja Luka sociolects is given.
Morphosyntactic valency of verbs in Croatian and Czech language and a valency distionary of Czech and Croatian verbs

The aim of this dissertation is to analyze the morphosyntactic valency of Verbs in Croatian and Czech language by using the contrastive method. The introduction shows the development of the syntactic theory of valence from L. Tesnire until today. Here are explained disputable questions about the theory of valence, and also types of valence positions and the number of valence components. In the main part of dissertation are described similarities and differences of the morphosyntactic valency of verbs in Croatian and Czech language by using the contrastive method. The Chapter Cases without preposition in Croatian and Czech language shows which verbs requires in Croatian and Czech language valence components without prepositions in nominative, genitive, dative, accusative and instrumental. The Chapter Preposition Valence shows what kind of valence positions some prepositions in Croatian and Czech language have. Prepositions which are described in dissertation are: without, to, by, along, within, around, toward, except, but, beside, out of, beyond, between, over, above, in, on, at, from, of, with, off, under, bellow, beneath, for, because of, in front of, before, ahead of, against, through, with, near...The Chapter Infinitive as a valence component describes which verbs have infinitive as a valence component...

Tone and word accent in contemporary Serbian of Kosovska Mitrovica region

The subject of the thesis is the contemporary state of lexical pitch accents system in Serbian of Kosovska Mitrovica region. The theoretical background of the thesis is mainly based on Pavle Ivić's, Ilse Lehiste's, Asim Peco's and Svetlana Godjevac's papers. The thesis briefly outlines the development of Serbian lexical pitch accents and discusses the contemporary state of the system from the above mentioned authors' perspective. On the basis of recordings of texts read by native speakers from Kosovska Mitrovica the thesis describes the system of pitch accents in the region. By measuring the course of F0 in stressed and following syllables the thesis analyses the realization of respective types of lexical pitch accents, their mutual similarities and differences. With regards to these results the thesis makes conclusions about the state of the system in the region.
