Activism of seniors living in nurturant and retirement houses

Activism of seniors living in nurturant and retirement houses Bachelor's work was aimed for nurturant and retirement houses. Focus was the fact whether in these institutions the free-time activities are being prepared and who and how is managing them. My findings were positive, as the acitivities are established at all locations, at some of them with educated staff, at some with specialized programs with reccurences and wide offers. Also exact activities for immobile clients are created and helping to motivate them to shake off the fear and check something re-new out. Research pointed out the interests of seniors and their willingness to change their life to better. Activism of seniors takes really serious place in policy of human aging.

Spring migration of amphibians in relation to the lunar cycle

Spring migration of amphibians is often studied phenomenon. Individuals who wake up in the spring after winter hibernation leave their winter shelters and move into nearby water reservoirs to mate here. While the course of the reproduction is well documented a terrestrial stage of amphibian life cycle is poorly known. This work deals with the influence of exogenous factors on spring migration of alpine newt Ichthyosaura alpestris (Laurenti 1768) (formerly Mesotriton alpestris, Triturus alpestris) and is especially focused on the lunar cycle.
The null hypothesis was formulated as follows: The number of newts arriving into the water reservoir during the spring migration is independent on the phase of the lunar cycle. Spring migration of alpine newts was monitored during two years at two localities. Males on location Čachnov mostly migrated on 25th day of the lunar cycle while females on this location mostly migrated on 26th day of the lunar cycle. Males on the location Hylváty mostly migrated on 21st day of the lunar cycle while females migrated evenly throughout the entire cycle. Based on obtained data it can be assumed that there is a correlation between the number of migrating individuals and the lunar cycle. Probably the main reason for this is the intensity of light reaching the earth´s surface which makes it easier for amphibians to navigate during the spring migration.

The influence of stress during transport on agricultural usage of selected species

This thesis deals with influence of stress during transport on selected species of transported animals especially on pigs, cattle and poultry. Each animal deals with stress differently according to its anatomical, physiological and ethological predispositions. Requirements according to these predispositions are described in the theoretical part of thesis. In the end of theoretical part defects of meat which occur as a result of stress are described. In practical part there is a summary of current laws related to transport of living animals, both Czech and European. Current laws are compared with anatomical, physiological and ethological requirements of animals. In the end of thesis the quality of current laws is evaluated and possible future development of transport of living animals is outlined.

Analysis of horse transport possibilities

The bachelor's thesis deals with issues of horse transport that is with respect to organization as well as economy. Its goal is to discover the most suitable ways of horse transport and conditions. First the theoretical part summarizes the most important requirements of relevant laws which deals with this issues. This way legal framework is sketched out. Other the practical part analyses situation of model contestants in the Czech republic in connection with way of transport and number of horses. In closing the results of this analysis are generalized and compared with well-established practice.
