Interactive Cloth Simulation Accelerated by GPU
Melichar, Vojtěch ; Klepárník, Petr (referee) ; Jaroš, Jiří (advisor)
This master thesis deals with interactive cloth simulation accelerated by GPU. In the first part there is a description of all technologies used during implementation of a program. The second part discusses various simulation methods. It is mainly focused on particle systems as a most used method. These parts are followed by a design of the program, which is implemented as a part of this thesis. The program was implemented in four variants. The first variant is CPU implementation, which was then optimalized with OpenMP. CUDA implementation is based on these implementations. Last variant implemented in this thesis is optimized CUDA implementation. All these implementations are evaluated from compute complexity point of view and suitability for real time graphics.
FITkit Music Synthesizer
Melichar, Vojtěch ; Minařík, Miloš (referee) ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with sound synthesis methods and with design of a synthesizer for FITkit platform. In the first part of the thesis, there are described methods of sound synthesis and the history of sound synthesis is also stated here. Next part contains a brief characteristic of sound chip SID 6581. In the next part of the thesis, there is a design of each part of the synthesizer: oscillator, envelope generator, voice and filter. Then, these components are put together to make up an synthesizer. Correctness of the implementation is verified by a simulation in ModelSim 6.6d. Individual components are simulated separately and then in mayor groups.
Causes of vegetation heterogeneity of oak forests in Podbořansko region
Procházka, Michal ; Vojta, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Melichar, Vladimír (referee)
Thermophilous oak forests are a habitat characterized by a large diversity of vascular plants. In the case of open canopy woodlands, the diversity of the herb undergrowth is enhanced by the significant heterogeneity of the environment. It can be demonstrated for example at the Dětaň Chlum in neighborhood of the Doupovské hory Mts. However, it has not yet been fully known which natural characteristic have the most significant influence on the formation of such a diverse vegetation. One of the possible causes can be found in historical management. Therefore, this work provides some insight into the history of forest management in the Podbořany region based on archival materials such as Historical Forest Survey, Management Plans or Archive Maps. The obtained information is to a large extent surprising. It has been shown that coniferous stands with a long time of timber extraction have dominated the Dětaň chlum in the past. However, this contradicts the assumption that it is an ancient oak coppice, as suggested by the current appearance of vegetation with a high incidence of polycormones in the local nature reserve. To find out the environmental causes of the current heterogeneity of vegetation, I used the CANOCO statistical program to analyze the dependence of my own phytosociological data on selected...

Optimization of processes in the selected factory
Melichar, Václav ; Fortinová, Jana (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
Thesis called "Optimization of processes in the selected factory" is aimed at improving the operation of business processes. The stated aim is to analyze the current processes in a particular company in the Moravian region and the results of the analysis process to select appropriate design solutions for problems found. In the theoretical part of the work the basic concepts are first defined and then the issue of process management and process modeling is further elaborated upon. The previous theoretical part is followed by a practical part. These are based on the analysis of three business processes identified which show shortcomings. To determine the suitability of the identified processes to optimize, the methodology of elimination questions is used. The benefit of this work is, in particular, better use of corporate assets in a particular chosen company.
Pollen monitoring of the Bohemian Forest in the years 1996 - 2006
Svitavská-Svobodová, Helena ; Frantík, Tomáš ; Wild, Jan ; Melichar, V.
The results of the secular pollen monitoring research is focused on the Bohemian Forest where 19 pollen traps were installed on the vertical transects on strategy places gradually covering the areas from natural forest zones to forested-free ones. Three areas were selected in Bohemian Forest (1) the Massif of Trojmezný – Vltavský luh Upper Moldau river valley, (2) Železnohorská hornatina Uplands – Hartmanice region, and (3) Modrava - Kvilda pláně Uplands. The pollen traps were situated in the immediate vicinity of the sampling mire with a known vegetation history, next one on meso-distance at timber-line and the other on the highest peak of the selected transect zone.
Analysis of production and consumption of electricity in Czech republic
Melichar, Vojtěch ; Arltová, Markéta (advisor) ; Vošta, Milan (referee)
This master thesis is divided into two parts. First part focuses on production and consumption of electricity in the Czech republic, describing sources of the production and their progress since 1990, considering also the main electricity consumers. The end of the first part focuses on the Box-Jenkins methodology, time series of electricity consumption between 1981 and 2008 are created as well as forecasted up to 2011. The second part of this thesis describes the cluster analysis. This is used for finding similarities of the 27 states of the European Union. Cluster analysis is applied for years 1990 and 2007, for both electric power production and electric power consumption.
