Analysis of Mortality in the Czech Republic in 1950s, 1960s and 1970s
Jičínský, Jaroslav ; Mazouch, Petr (advisor) ; Pechholdová, Markéta (referee)
Changes in mortality behavior in 1950s-1970s pose a fluctuation of Czech population's mortality trend and still have an impact on current level of life expectancy. The thesis focuses on mortality process in that period from cross-sectional and longitudinal approach and tries to identify how the mortality changes affected age intervals older than 30 and influenced cohorts which were in these age intervals in observed period. In the thesis Arriaga's decomposition method was used for quantification of mortality changes in particular age intervals and their affect on changes of life expectancy. The obtained results show that mostly age groups older than 60 were more sensitive to mortality fluctuations.
The analysis of cohort mortality at old aged people
Horníková, Andrea ; Mazouch, Petr (advisor) ; Fiala, Tomáš (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to find patterns trends and assumptions for mortality vs. age prediction. Based on the analysis of trends in the already extinct cohorts, the most suitable models for estimating the future development of mortality among surviving cohorts are selected. This thesis compares real data extinct cohorts with balanced data Gompertz-Makehamovy function. The research and analysis is focused on the specifics of cohort mortality from the age of 90. The last part of this thesis illustrates comparison between real data of extinct cohorts with DeRaS model outputs. The selection of Kannisto and Thatcher as the optimal model is presented in the form of graphical outputs indicating the cohort life expectancy of men and women aged 90 years.
Testing the neoclassical migration model: An empirical analysis based on panel data for the Czech republic
Kureková, Lucie ; Čadil, Jan (advisor) ; Mazouch, Petr (referee)
In this paper is tested validity of the neoclassical migration model. For this purpose, were used Fixed effects model and VAR model. Data contain period of years 2001 to 2010 from 14 regions of the Czech republic and dataset contains 140 observations. Empirical results of Fixed effects model show that socioeconomic determinants had signifficant influence on regional rate of migration in the Czech republic. The direction and strength of influence of the most explanatory variables corresponded to the neoclassical theory. Estimations of VAR model indicate that regional migration did not decrease disparities within regions. These results questioned validity of neoclassical migration model.

Staněk, Tomáš ; Mazouch, Petr (advisor) ; Vltavská, Kristýna (referee)
The Human development index is a well known composite indicator which is used worldwide to compare human development between the states and which is published every year by the United Nations Development Programme. The first part of this thesis describes the origin, dimensions and calculation of HDI, subsequently it will focuses on the sensitivity analysis and its various methods. The second part of the thesis contains the analysis of correlation of the all the HDI dimensions and of the impact of the changes of each HDI component on the final output.
Analysis of similarities of results at admission tests on FIS
Habarta, Filip ; Mazouch, Petr (advisor) ; Malá, Ivana (referee)
The aim of this work is the analysis of admissions to undergraduate study to the academic year 2014/2015 on the Faculty of informatics and statistics of University of Economics, Prague. This analysis is focusing mainly on the problem of cheating during the admission tests. For this purpose probability model that reveals suspiciously high number of matches of answers on the test questions between the participants is being used. Model is calculated by script that was created as part of this thesis. This script can be used for different data sets. Part of the thesis analyzes data obtained from the admissions on the basic statistical level. Final evaluation of the admissions and suggestions of precautions measures are summarized in the end of this thesis.

Tůmová, Pavla ; Mazouch, Petr (advisor) ; Nývlt, Ondřej (referee)
My diploma thesis is based on data from Survey on income and living conditions 2011 from ad hoc module on intergenerational disadvantages. The study investigates the transmission of social status from one generation to another. The diploma thesis includes descriptive statistics and data analysis. The main goal is to determine the dependency of socio-economic variables on social status transmission. To examine the strength of transmission of social status (education and occupation) logistic regression was used. In the analysis are respondents in the age 30 -- 60 years old, who lived at least with one of their parents. Due to a large number of respondents dataset enables detailed separation to groups by age groups, education level etc. followed by differences comparison between defined groups. Using the wage mechanism data are representative for population structure of Czech Republic.
Spravedlivé školné
Suchánková, Petra ; Mazouch, Petr (advisor) ; Svoboda, Libor (referee)
The thesis is focused on fair tuition fees. It tries to explore more profoundly all the possible factors, which could be considered as important during the measuring benefits of higher education. Among these factors we can find p.e. Labour market success rate, unemployment and income level of graduates in employment. The other main theme of this thesis is the current situation concerning the funding of higher education in the Czech Republic and other EU countries. The issue of tuition fee is currently very actual and it is clear that proper financial cost analysis of studies and the possibilities of measuring return on investment in tertiary education are more than important. Therefore I present existing possibilities to measure return on investment and also to the following possibilities how to include and use the unemployment rate of graduates.
