Maťha, Filip ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The thesis deals with the changes in the party system of France. The fundamental change in French politics came after the presidential and subsequent parliamentary elections in 2017. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the French party system, its changes and its development. The intention is to give readers insight into French politics and the features that have appeared in it since 1958. An important constitutional arrangement affecting French policy was the shortening of the President's term of office from 7 to 5 years and the associated unification of the presidential and parliamentary elections in the same year. The first part of the thesis is focused on classical political science theories connected with the party system. It will also offer a closer look at the institutional patterns of France and their development. In a separate chapter, we will deal with the electoral system as a substantial variable affecting electoral inputs and outputs. The second part brings an analysis of the party system, using an effective number of political parties and other supporting indicators.
