Fate of micropollutants during vermicomposting

Vermicomposting is recently becoming a rather popular environmentally friendly technique for stabilizing biowaste, including sewage sludge. There is an effort to utilize the sewage sludge as fertilizer on agricultural land. But apart from nutrients, the sludge also contains harmful pollutants, which subsequently after its deposition on fields can be taken up by plants and organisms contaminating the food chains. Micropollutants, the substances that can be found throughout the environment in trace concentrations, are one of the pollutants occurring in sludge. It is for example pharmaceuticals and personal care products, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or pesticides. Their negative effects are known - they can be for instance endocrine disruption, antibiotic resistance, or the development of cancer. Although the deposition of sewage sludge on fields as a fertilizer is one of the main introduction routes of micropollutants to the environment, the content of micropollutants before deposition is not monitored nor regulated. Advanced remediation technologies for recalcitrant pollutants Studium pokročilých sanačních technologií pro rekalcitrantní polutanty Dissertation thesis Ing. Ondřej Lhotský Abstract This study focuses primarily on the testing and optimization of methods based on modifications to, and the targeted enhancement of, natural microbial processes for the removal of recalcitrant pollutants. Pilot tests were conducted of these innovative methods at real contaminated sites and matrices, and their effectiveness was monitored in the relevant environments. The pilot tests generally confirmed the potential of the modifications and bioremediation technology combinations by revealing significant increases in the removal efficiency for a number of recalcitrant contaminants. The study provides a general summary of the issue of soil and rock environment contamination by recalcitrant contaminants and familiarizes the reader with bioremediation technologies and their optimization for the removal of recalcitrant contaminants. Subsequently, a theoretical introduction is provided of the methods applied in 4 pilot tests of optimized and combined remediation methods at real contaminated sites in the Czech Republic. The implementation of GRC concept in Czech republic

The thesis focuses on a characterization of an integrated method of enterprise management called GRC (Governance, Risk management & Compliance), a description of its components in a relation to the enterprise management and explores software tools dedicated to support this approach to the management. The thesis gives examples of some of the most significant frameworks for the management of GRC's components and illustrates a real life use of this method on an example of two Czech companies.

Zákon Sarbanes Oxley a jeho aplikace v retailové společnosti

Diplomová práce se zabývá zákonem Sarbanes Oxley a jeho dopadem na společnosti, které spadají do jeho působnosti. V práci je představena i jeho konkrétní aplikace na procesu nakládání s hotovostí v retailové společnosti. Zákon stanovuje, že management společností je přímo odpovědný akcionářům za vytvoření a udržování kvalitního systému vnitropodnikových kontrol. Tyto kontroly mají zajistit průhlednost a správnost procesů a toků zejména finančních informací, které jsou zobrazeny ve finančních výkazech společností. Práce popisuje povinnosti managementu, jednotlivé kroky při naplňování dikce zákona a postup, jak nastavit kvalitní implementaci systému vnitřních kontrol. Práce se zabývá i podstatnou úlohou kontrolních orgánů společnosti jakými jsou zejména interní audit a auditní komise.
