Leuchter, Roman ; Hála, Martin (advisor) ; Hudeček, Jiří (referee)
Bachelor thesis "Belt and Road in Uganda: CEFC Case Study" deals with the People's Republic of China's engagement in Africa. Specifically, it focuses on a corruption case of high-level politicians in Chad and Uganda. Patrick Ho, a general secretary of China Energy Fund Committee which is a subsidiary NGO of a Chinese private company CEFC China, was convicted of orchestrating the bribery case. The first part introduces the context of China-Africa relations and Chinese activities in Africa, and the second part describes the CEFC company and the corruption case of Patrick Ho. The core of the work lies on one hand in the analysis of the connections between CEFC and PRC's official politics, consisting of personnel ties and active promotion of the PRC official narrative, especially the Belt and Road Initiative. The other focus is the description of the corruption case. The thesis offers a specific case study to supplement the more general literature on the Chinese involvement in Africa. Keywords Belt and Road, China and Africa, CEFC, Patrick Ho, Ye Jianming, corruption
