NEW ON THE „OLD“ – Brno, Bratislavská - Stará Corner

Multifunctional building is located in a vacant lot on the corner of Bratislavska and Stara streets in district Zábrdovice of Brno city. The main purpose of the building is to create conditions for the revival of declining district near the center, which is achieved by the proposed functions of gallery, studios, cafe and housing. The design works with public space and private atriums in a combination with residential galleries. Special attention was paid to the facade of the house to fit between the richly decorated buildings of the 19th century.

A SOUND MIND IN A HEALTHY BODY - Sport and recreation district Za Lužánkami

Sport in Brno has its own great tradition, which is visible on huge stadiums situated in the sports complex Za Luzankami. Unfortunately, stadiums dilapidated and the whole areal turn to brownfield. The proposal of new multipurpose Kometa Arena, located at the site of the original, now demolished stadium, together with the planned new football stadium will initiate the reconstruction of the district, and get it back to past glories. The stadium belongs to the category of buildings where form follows function, which in this case primarily allow for a quality perspective on the pitch for a large number of spectators. In this case, the stands are also the main supporting structure of the whole stadium. On platforms anchored to the stands are located the modifiable cells containing functions related to the arena. The appearance of the stadium is determined by transparent facade that allows the neighborhood to see what is happening in the stadium and provides interesting views from high arena of the surrounding park, arboretum and the city.

Terchová – Revival of Tradition

The work focuses on the revitalization of the area in the village of Terchová. The tradition of shepherding in the locality has conditioned the design of a building for the processing of steamed cheese with the possibility of future development for independent sheep breeding. The proposal is complemented by a conceptual solution for the reconstruction of the nearby building of the Mountain service house, which can increase the overall attractiveness and visitability of the area. An effort has been made to approach the work with respect to local cultural, architectural and social conditions.

Tendence současné architektury ve strukturálním pojetí díla

Architecture is evolving like any other industry, and because architectural work is the synthesis of science and art, the key role in its development is played by new technologies, processes and materials as well as the contemporary concept of space, the ideals of beauty and the spirit of the times. Progressive architectural works often depend only on the architect’s sense of the tangible and intangible parts of the design and ability to harmonize them. When analyzing the structure and architectural space of these structures, it is possible to trace certain directions, which then develop further while the basic principle remains preserved. This paper is concerned with “gridshell” structures whose support systems are wood-based. From the results we can deduce some basic features characteristic of the material, and then predict future development and design new spatial and structural forms.

Konstrukce a architektonický prostor

The architectural work is the synthesis of three fundamental determinants: space, form, and matter that interact with one another. The current modern architecture is based on the design of space, where the design is based on different rules than the structural ones. In the space-matter-form relationship, the resulting space should be greatly influenced by the choice of material (matter) and consequently of the structural system (form). For the analysis of internal architectural space, I chose buildings that were structurally new at the time of their creation. These buildings use only one main material to create space, from which the construction system comes out. The results of the analysis show the importance of the spatial aspect of the structural system and indicate the natural design of each material.
