Impact of a cognitive function therapy on people with dementia
Nová, Jarmila ; Krivošíková, Mária (advisor) ; Piťhová, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis occupies with a cognitive training efficiency with a focus on memory and attention of dementia diagnosed people, especially people with vascular dementia, mixed dementia or Alzheimer's disease. The theoretical part deals with dementia issues and current knowledge on the field of a cognitive and occupational therapy. The main empirical part goal is a determination of the cognitive training by dementia diagnosed people. The next goal is to find out, how much clients are satisfied with the cognitive function therapy. The cognitive function training is made within a period of 8 weeks in social institutions in Jirkov and Chomutov. The research sample is consisted of 24 clients (at the age of 65 and more) with diagnosed Alzheimer's disease, vascular or mixed dementia, they were divided into an experimental and comparative group. Clients are evaluated before the intervention and after the intervention using Mini-Mental Examination test (MMSE), Trail Making test, part A (TMT:A and Swwartz scale of the therapy evaluation (SOS-10). Statistically significant results of set significance rate (p < 0,05) were found by the test MMSE (0,01 < 0,05) and scale SOS-10 (0,02 < 0,05), but the test TMT:A (0,09 > 0,05) hasn't confirmed therapy efficiency from the reason of the small research sample. Those...
Occupational therapy in pediatric rheumatology
Therová, Michaela ; Nováková, Olga (advisor) ; Krivošíková, Mária (referee)
The application of occupational therapy has been explored in pediatric rheumatology, with an emphasis to leisure activities and activities of daily living in junior school children with arthritis. The theoretical section offers a brief description of occupational therapy and juvenile idiopathic arthritis with a specific attention given to polyarthritis. In addition, this section describes occupational therapy for children with arthritis plus various examinations being used by occupational therapists in these children. (CHAQ (The Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire), JAHODA (Juvenile Arthritis Multidimensional Assessment Report), grip ability examination and goniometry). The practical section includes six case reports of pediatric patients with arthritis, with a detailed description of leisure activities and activities of daily living. Examination outcomes of children with arthritis have been compared to a control population of five healthy children. The thesis objective is to explore how children with arthritis spend their leisure time, what daily activities and games are difficult to complete because of their condition and what activities are easy to complete. Based on data collected, a brochure for parents and...
Determination of fine motor skills in patients after traumatic brain injury with Purdue Pegboard
Kaňková, Hana ; Krivošíková, Mária (advisor) ; Rodová, Zuzana (referee)
of diploma thesis: Objective In the Czech republic there is no normative data for Purdue pegboard test in any reprezentative group of people. First goal of this diploma thesis is to determine basic normative data Purdue pegboard test in not representative sample of people with traumatic brain injury at the age of 22-40 years in chronic phase. Second goal is to determine clinical utility of Purdue pegboard test in this clinical population group of people. The Student t-test and ambiguity proportion was used to statistic analyse the hypothesis. As a graphic processing was choosen the linear equation with the image of the Gaussian curve. There are analysed 3 case studies about people with traumatic brain injury to accomplish second goal. There is no significant difference in Purdue pegboard test score in employed and unemployed people with traumatic brain injury, equally to women and men with traumatic brain injury. There is evidence, that age influence score of Purdue pegboard test in men with traumatic brain injury, but not in women with traumatic brain injury. There are presented basic norms of Purdue pegboard test in people with traumatic brain injury in standard and percentile scale in this thesis. Normative data in people with traumatic brain injury makes easier to work with this clinical...
Determination of the Basic Normative Data of the Jebsen-Taylor Test in a Non-Clinical Population.
Bačová, Eliška ; Krivošíková, Mária (advisor) ; Rodová, Zuzana (referee)
Motor skills disorder of upper limb motor disorders is currently a frequent reason for large population disability. That is why it is necessary to adress this issue and look for possibilities of proper evaluation and therapy. One of the standard methods is Jebsen- Taylor test (JTT). This thesis deals with theoretical aspects of the Jebsen-Taylor test and presents results of the research verifying psychometric characterictics of the test as well as influence of demografic characteristics on the performance in the test. The theoretical part deals with motor skills disorder that are closely related with the test. The practical part presents results of the research using the sample of nonrandomised Czech non-clinical population. The aim is to create basic norms of the Jebsen-Taylor test and this particular population. The norms were created on a sample of 180 persons separately for men and women divided into three age groups (20-59, 60-75, 76-99). The age of the participants influences the results in most subtests of the Jebsen-Taylor test. With the increasing age, an average time of particular subtests increases, too. The gender influence was not notably manifested in most subtests. In the group of men the performance of the upper limb showed significant difference. On the other hand, in the group of...
