Moral aspects in the story of the first Book of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Attempt at a view of narrative ethics

C. S. Lewis was one of the greatest Christian apologists of modern times. He did not only write in Christianity defence, he also wrote a lot about morality and its close interrelationship with faith. This work aims, to demonstrate the moral message put into his work for children, specifically in the story I. Part of the Chronicles of Narnia. It tries to answer the question of whether they can be understood as a general parable of Christian life, spiritual warfare, or inner transformation of a man meeting God. It aims to show precisely the situation hidden in the story, which can be applied to everyday life situations. For example, issues stemming from (in my opinion) the most impressive image of the entire book: What gave strength to Edmund turn from evil to good after meeting with Aslan? What is the nature of this image from the perspective of moral theology and how it is applicable in our Christian life? In this work, I rely on the concept of ethics in other books by C. S. Lewis. The topic of angels in the spirituality of practicing Catholics

The aim of the thesis is to investigate what is the impact of new religious movements' concepts on practicing Catholics in Ostrava region, especially focused on angel's topic. The first part of the thesis introduces the Catholic doctrine on angles. In the second chapter new religious movements' view on the angelic beings is introduced. Into consideration mostly written texts by new movements' authors are taken, especially of these with the biggest influence on Czech spiritual sphere. The third part analyses how deeply active Catholics are influenced by new movements' ideas and their angels' concepts. Method used is quantitative research amongst Ostrava region Catholic parishioners. This rigorous thesis is an extension of the previous diploma thesis.
