Distance education of a pupil with mild mental retardation during the COVID-19 pandemic: case study

This bachelor thesis is focused on the distance education of a pupil with mild mental retardation during the COVID-19 pandemic. It should capture the benefits and disadvantages of this type of education. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part defines the concepts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of it on education. Furthermore is described the distance education and its types. There is defined the mental retardation, its etiology, classification and the definition of a mild mental retardation. The theoretical part also describes the education of people with mental disabilities and their education during compulsory schooling. Further is described the elementary school in Vokovice, its school's educational program and the division of the students into classes in the year according to the level of support. For the practical part was used the method of qualitative research with the help of semi- structured and narrative interviews with parents, the student's class teacher and with the student herself, and with the help of observation in the home and school environment.
