Data processing of well log complex
Hanák, David ; Procházka, Martin (advisor) ; Kobr, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis is focused on the problem of the determination of shear surfaces of slope instabilities (including fossil ones) from the results of the complex of logging methods. It describes the steps taken during data measurement, processing, and interpretation. All the data comes from the measurements conducted in the boreholes carried out for the geotechnical survey of the sliding area in the immediate proximity of the D8 highway or measurements in a well from the Děčín-Loubí locality. On the second mentioned locality, due to a different well construction, a more extensive logging complex could be carried out. After locating shear surfaces in a slope instability, a comparsion was made to determine whether the results in neighboring boreholes corresponded to each other, and to evaluate which methods (or combination of methods) suits best for the task.
Thermal logging data analysis in the area of Ohárecký Lineament
Schinkmann, Jakub ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Dědeček, Petr (referee)
Jakub Schinkman - abstract The object of the thesis was a detailed processing of the available temperature logging data from the area of Ohře lineament. The Ohře lineament is known by its characteristic temperature manifestations. Based on a comprehensive selection of thermometric logs and using the results of other logging methods were selected a total of 281 wells suitable for the construction of temperature maps. The parts of the work are maps of geothermal gradient and temperature sections across the Ohře lineament. Based on these summary maps, 6 smaller areas with anomalous temperature signs were selected for detailed analysis. Anomalies and trends in geothermal gradient were then compared with some other geophysical features. The work provides not only detailed processing of the collected thermometric data, but also shows the different possibilities of visualization and try to understand the problems of heat transfer in the upper parts of the earth's crust.
Well log analysis for sedimentary formation evaluation
Šálek, Ondřej ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Lukeš, Jiří (referee)
3 ABSTRACT The work is focused on analysis of five structural well profiles penetrating sediments of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin and the underlying Upper Palaeozoic continental basins to the crystalline basement. The objectives of well profile analysis are sedimentary formation evaluation from well log analysis and statistical analysis and evaluation of some physical properties of sedimentary rocks, which have been determined by measurements of drill cores. The aim of the work is to verify the possibility of porosity evaluation from well log analysis in the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin and the underlying Upper Palaeozoic continental basins. The next aim is to compare different geological environments with respect to physical properties of rocks. The content of the work involves presentation of well log curves, computation of porosity values and comparison between the resulting values of porosity from resistivity log, acoustic log and neutron-neutron log and from laboratory measurements of drill core samples. Data from five deep structural wells are used. Different geological environments were compared by statistical methods with respect to physical properties of rocks measured on well core samples from these five wells. Porosity evaluation from well log analysis is difficult but it is possible provided that...
Geothermal energy
Čápová, Lucie ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Datel, Josef (referee)
Geothermal energy is a perspective renewable source of energy. Its usage is undergoing vast development, focused especially on geothermal heat pumps and Enhanced Geothermal Systems. Basic information on the sources of Earth's heat, geological conditions and other factors influencing how geothermal energy may be exploited and processed, is presented in this paper. Various scientific papers and information resources of relevant companies have been investigated in order to obtain data on the usage of geothermal energy, focusing mainly on different types of thermal environment. One of the chief aims of this work was to provide examples of significant geothermal fields worldwide (Italy, New Zealand, USA, Philippines, Iceland, France), including specific information on each of the sites. In addition, the possibility of the use of geothermal energy in the Czech Republic has been discussed, based on the current knowledge of heat-flow density throughout the territory of the Czech Republic. As for this country, district heating in Děčín and a geothermal project in Litoměřice have been mentioned as examples. Keywords: geothermal energy, geothermal power plant, geothermal field

Hydro-well logging of natural ground water flow in sedimentary rocks by dilution method
Pitrák, Michal ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Lukeš, Jiří (referee) ; Čurda, Stanislav (referee)
Eydro-welt logging of natural ground water Ílory in sedimentary rocks by dilution method Michal Pitrák This work enlarges dilution rnethod, which is used to determine ground water flow. The diiution method is based on watef marker changes in time and deptň. Eiectrical resistivity probe together with NaCl marker are commonly used for dilution method. One of objectives of this work was attempting to substitute NaCl marker by food industry colorant. Food colorant was used to rnark entire borehole and ďso to create local (point) cloud of marker. Another aim was to validate usilge of portable well logging apparatus for dilution method, both for brine and for food colorant marking. Test measurements were realized in boreholes in different sedimentary basins of Czech republic. Two computer programs were developed for quick terrain data processing, ,,WR2LAS.. and,,VELCOM... Firs of them converts logged data to internationď data format LAS. Files of LAS f,orrnat &re easy imported to eny commerciď processing soťtware, as used "GdBase." Thanks to quick conversion of data it is possible to draw logging graphs directly in terrain and adapt next measuring to present results. Next developed program,,VELCOM' serves for interactive and graphics determination of horizontal flow velocity. Dilution logs and times of its...
Physical properties of meteorites and their role in planetology
Kohout, Tomáš ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Petrovský, Eduard (referee) ; Funaki, Minora (referee)
Physical properties of meteorites and their role in planetology Tomáš Kohout Together with cosmic spherules, interplanetary dust particles and lunar samples returned by Apollo and Luna missions, meteorites are the only source of extraterrestrial material on Earth. They represent samples of various space bodies from asteroids to other planets. Some are remains of parent bodies, which completely disintegrated during giant collisions and no longer exist in the Solar System. The physical properties of meteorites, especially their magnetic susceptibility, bulk and grain density and porosity, have wide applications in meteorite research such as meteorite classification, studies of their origin, level of terrestrial weathering, shock history and in the estimation of the physical appearance oťtheir parent bodies - asteroids. For example, the comparison of a meteorite's density, porosity or magnetic susceptibility to that of a compositionally similar asteroid may reveal its internal structure. For such purposes, an expanded database of meteorite physical properties was compiled with new measurements done in meteorite collections across Europe using a mobile laboratory facility. However, the scale problem may bring discrepancies in the comparison of asteroid and meteorite properties. Due to inhomogenity, the physical...
Complex interpretation of gravity data focused on tectonic structure assessment and environmental projects
Mantlík, František ; Kobr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Blecha, Vratislav (referee) ; Pašteka, Roman (referee)
3 Abstract Gravimetry is an enormously expanding geophysical exploration method during the last decade. Unfortunately the gravity inversion ambiguity problem introduces the necessity to constrain gravity model parameters by other independent data. Overview of gravity data processing and interpretation is presented. All stages of the project lifecycle are discussed with emphasis to the methodological aspects and new challenges introduced by common use of modern digital zero-length spring gravimeters. Special attention is drawn on approaches used in the presented case histories projects. Description of the interpretation stage of the project concentrates on constraining of gravity model parameters with a complex of geophysical and geological data in order to reduce ambiguity of the inversion process in gravimetry. In addition, approaches used for delineation of tectonic structures, an important aspect of the interpretation stage, are described. Three case histories examples are presented to demonstrate methodological aspects of the interpretation of gravity data. They are focused on environmental problems and tectonic structure assessment. The first project represents an attempt to use micro-gravity for determination of internal structure of an undocumented sealed landfill. The second project demonstrates...
