On the Geishas from Vršovice. Hloucha's Dab of the Exotic as a Contribution to Types of Entertainment Offered by the Capital City
Kořínková, Lucie ; Kořínek, Pavel
Příspěvek pojednává o takzvané japonské čajovně, kterou na pražském holešovickém výstavišti u příležitosti Jubilejní výstavy v roce 1908 provozovali bratři Joe a Karel Hlouchovi.
Karel Slavoj Amerling as a Relic Case of Developing the Ideological World of Jungmann's Phase of National Revival
Amerlingovy snahy totiž anachronicky, v době pozměněné společenské situace, rozvíjejí postupy a vize, jež byly pro tuto fázi národně emancipačního úsilí v oblasti kultury a vědy příznačné.
„Ah, the young gentleman has got up! Motifs of the drinking spree and time management discipline in the work of František Gellner”
Kořínková, Lucie
This article deals with the motifs of time management discipline and transgressions against it in the literary and artistic work of František Gellner. In works from his youth we very often come across the motifs of the drinking spree, sleeping off a drinking spree and ''immoral'' time management. This motif is associated here with the general need of the author to define himself in relation to middle class orderliness and its banality, while almost always raising questions regarding moral transgressions and the long-term unsustainability of rebellious youth attitudes. The study concludes by considering the changing face of this motif in the final period of Gellner's work, when he was working at Lidové noviny in Brno. This stage in Gellner's life not only provided him with a well-established middle-class existence in the form of regular employment for a newspaper editorial office, but also meant that this newspaper work of his often had a distinctly idyllic tone when dealing with the same middle-class orderliness and regularity.
František Gellner. Text - Image - Context
Kořínková, Lucie ; Wiendl, Jan (advisor) ; Merhaut, Luboš (referee) ; Tureček, Dalibor (referee)
The Ph.D. thesis deals with the Czech author František Gellner. It deliberately endeavours not to exclude any of the segments of his both literary and visual work out of consideration, but to present them all in their heterogeneity, yet in mutual connections. Works of Gellner's art are therefore interpreted in novel ways, especially in consideration of the contexts of the period from which they origin (and above others those contexts that have become obscure and forgotten in the nearly hundred years since the original publication of Gellner's work). The first chapter summarizes the previous critical reception of Gellner's work and at the same time deals with this author's image in the Czech cultural milieu. Analysing some of Gellner's manuscripts, the second chapter aims to describe the specific type of the author's creativity. The third chapter is devoted to the problem of ambiguously constructed national identity of František Gellner and to the impact it had on the ways he dealt with the themes of Jewishness and anti-Semitism. The fourth chapter describes the various relations between Gellner's works and the periodicals these were prepared for. The next chapter is dedicated solely to Lidové noviny, as this was the newspaper periodical with which Gellner co-operated most intensely; the detailed...

Diet of patients with ulcerative colitis
KOŘÍNKOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis deals with ulcerative colitis as well as with the impact of such a disease on patient's diet. The aim of this thesis is to describe the composition of the diet of patients with ulcerative colitis. The following research questions are defined: "How do the patients follow the principles of a proper diet in this disease?", "What foods do the patients tend to avoid most often?" and "What is the experience of selected patients with a nutritional therapist?" At first, this bachelor thesis summarizes theoretical knowledge of the current status, incidence, diagnostics, causes and the course of the disease. Other chapters deal with symptoms of ulcerative colitis which is not just a matter of the digestive tract. This is followed by the extraintestinal complications that are related to the disease. The nutritional status of patients is also mentioned here. Last but not least, this work describes the diet plan of patients. To achieve the goal of this thesis, quantitative and qualitative researches are selected. The quantitative research is conducted using questionnaires which were distributed to patients of the Clinical Centre ISCARE I.V.F a.s., that is under the leadership of a head of the department, Prof. MUDr. Milan Lukáš, CSc. The survey results are presented in the form of graphs. The qualitative research is carried out through the recording sheet to which the selected respondents wrote down their two-week diet. This diet was subsequently evaluated in the program Nutriservis. The results were compared with the recommendations and interpreted in the form of tables and plain text. For comparison, a general sample menu for the period of remission has been worked out. The research results show that eating habits of patients are quite stereotypical. Generally known facts have been confirmed. Most frequently, patients try to avoid the consumption of dairy products, wholemeal bread and legumes. The consumption of vegetables, fruits and fish is not sufficient. Patients are not aware enough of the role of a nutritional therapist, most respondents do not have any personal experience with him. Dietary advice is searched on the internet where some unverified recommendations may endanger health of individuals of malnutrition, hypovitaminoses or deficiency of trace elements. However, patients in the remission stage of ulcerative colitis should follow the rational diet with regard to individual food intolerance.
Nový kult as a Platform for the Socially Excluded?
Kořínková, Lucie
This essay deals with the anarchist review Nový kult, published and edited by the author S. K. Neumann. The focus here is on period after the year 1900, when Neumann persued his self-proclaimed aims in attempting to transform what was originally a social and cultural magazine into a purely political mouthpiece which would have aspired to find a mass-scale repercussion among the working classes, and would thereby become an ideological platform for bringing together the “intelectual” and “pragmatically oriented” streams of the anarchist movement. Basing herself in an analysis of the contents of Nový kult during the period under survey, as well as of how the journal’s policy envisioned its model reader, the author concludes that the implementation of the periodical’s original vision ran up against major obstacles, ending up in a state of affairs where it catered much rather to the interests and concerns of a radically oriented young intelligentsia whose members were at that time still finding it hard to assert themselves in practical life.
