Analytical and Tectogrammatical Analysis of a Natural Language
Klimeš, Václav ; Hajič, Jan (advisor) ; Pala, Karel (referee) ; Ribarov, Kiril (referee)
The thesis presents tools for analysis at analytical and tectogrammatical layers that the Prague Dependency Treebank is based on. The tools for analytical annotation consist of two parsers and a tool for assigning syntactic tags. Although the performance of the parsers is far below that of the state-of-the-art parsers, they both can be considered a certain contribution to parsing, since the methods they are based on are novel. The tool for assigning syntactic tags makes 15% less errors than a tool used for this purpose previously. The tool developed for tectogrammatical annotation is the only one that can currently perform this task in such a breadth. Although other, specialized tools may have a better performance of some of its particular subtasks, my tool makes 29% and 47% less errors for the Czech language than the combination of existing tools for annotating the tectogrammatical structure and deep functors, respectively, which are the core of the tectogrammatical layer. The proposed tools are designed the way they can be used for other languages as well.

In this work we present NLSH, a file manager for UNIX-like operating systems with user interface in written natural language. NLSH is a context-aware dialogue system capable of basic anaphora resolution; it uses currently-available tools for automatic conversion of sentences in Czech language to tectogrammatical dependency trees based on the framework of Functional Generative Description. The dependency trees are then interpreted using a formal querying language based on propositional logic. We describe the design, architecture and limitations of the whole system as well as of the interpretation mechanismand querying language.
Middle-Age Crisis: Psychological and Spiritual Guide
Klimeš, Václav ; Ovečka, Libor (referee)
The thesis "Middle-Age Crisis: Psychological and Spiritual Guide" contains a synthesis of knowledge about middle-age crisis from the interdisciplinary point of view of psychology and spiritual theology in its first part. The fundamental opinion declares that middle-age crisis is not something to be suffered through but, in spite of all its demands, it is an opportunity and challenge for fuller and more authentic life, for maturation of a man and for getting closer to oneself and to God. In the second part of the thesis, knowledge and procedures of psychotherapy, crisis intervention and pastoral theology are used to concretize and extend the conclusions of the first part in a more practical way; hence, the paper can be used as a guide for those who are undergoing this period of life or those who want to accompany someone else on this way. The thesis is intended primarily, but not exclusively, to Christians who lack education in the psychosocial area and who is middle-age crisis a personal topic of themselves or of people around them for-be it their relatives or friends, or, in case of pastoral workers, clients in their professional care. This work is rather singular in the Czech language due to its conception, scope and synthesis of the starting points as well as their elaboration. Keywords middle...

Audio CD Ripper
Žofka, Michal ; Klimeš, Václav (advisor) ; Tůma, Petr (referee)
Audio CD Ripper is a simple application working under WinXP. It allows the user to digitally extract Audio CDs using the ASPI interface and save the tracks or CD image as WAVE files to the hard disk. It is able to call an external encoder (LAME, APE or FLAC) with user specified command line options to compress the files after extraction. Remote and local freedb connectivity is available. An 1D3 editor is available as well as functions for automatic tagging and renaming files from tag. It is able to create a CUE sheet of the inserted audio CD. The user can choose the file naming scheme to be used for saving files. The application can also be used as a simple CD player. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
