This diploma thesis deals with calculation methods of heat exchanger with cross-flow tube bundle. The first part of the thesis contains summary of generally known basic calculation relations used in calculations of heat exchangers and a detailed description of a given heat exchanger. The second part of the thesis provides a description of available calculation methods of a given aparatus required for its thermal and hydraulic calculation. The final part describes application POST in 1.0 which has been formed on the basis of these calculation methods. Using this application check calculation of exchanger with cross-flow tube bundle was carried out and gained figures compared with results gained by means of professional calculation program HTRI.
Heat exchanger design to improve the efficiency of industrial plant
Hofbauer, Jan ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Freisleben, Vít (advisor)
In thesis is done thermal-hydraulic design of cross-flow tubular heat exchanger for combustion air preheating. In software Chemcad is done simulation of technological unit based on known operating data, which is used for behavior prediction of unit after heat exchanger installation. Then there are discussed essential mechanisms of heat transfer. After that there is overview of different heat exchanger types used for combustion air preheating. Before particular design there is performed optimalization of heat duty of heat exchnger based on payback time. Thermal-hydraulic design is performed using F-LMTD method in software GNU Octave. Obtained results are verified using software HTRI Xchanger Suite®. At the end there are discussed economical and ecological benefits of designed heat exchanger.
Prediction of furnace tubes corrosion using operating data
Kolomazník, Milan ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
The thesis deals with the modeling and prediction of corrosion of radiation tube snake in the heating furnace. Specifically it is focused on vertical cylindrical furnace which is included in the catalytic hydrocracking unit and serves for heating aggressive circulation gas which is the cause of high temperature corrosion. An important basis for the creation of computational models are available records about the operation of the furnace and about the corrosion and degradation mechanisms during the lifetime of the tube system in furnace. Such information enables the creation of a computational model which is based on the prediction of high-temperature corrosive damage of radiation tube snake. The computational model involving all relevant factors may serve as the basis for a predictive life management system of radiation snakes in the heating furnace.
Analysis of proces fluid pretreatment for heat exchange purpose
Navrátil, Ondřej ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis is devoted purification of a gas stream with solid and liquid particles. The problem described in the thesis is connected with a real industrial case – problem of operated waste gas incineration plant. Waste gas going to thermal incineration to flame of natural gas combustion contains solid and liquid particles. Presence of particles causes fouling of waste gas preheater. The main objective of thesis is analysis of situation and operating and space limitations and design of a suitable type of particle collector to reliable elimination of particles from waste gas before entering the gas preheater and thus to mitigation of fouling of preheater heat transfer area.
Analysis of technology for checking the tightness of manufactured heat exchangers with a focus on increasing its reliability
Grúz, Jan ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the analysis of the leakage checking technology of heat exchangers in a selected industrial company. According to this analysis the specific improvement proposals with the potential to increase the reliability of this technology are identified, selected and created. This analysis is carried out through consultations and meetings with the employees of the company and also with the help of the provided data and information. On the basis of this analysis, the technical background research of the leak testing technology and the DMAIC methodology, specific modifications with the potential to improve the operated technology are proposed and the amount of investment to implement them is estimated.
The design of the digestion tank heating
Cupra, Šimon ; Jegla, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the design of heating of the digestion tank, which is part of the waste water purification process and where the process of sludge digestion takes place. Anaerobic digestion (methanisation) is a process main goal of which is the hygienesation of incoming sludge and related biogas production. In the first part the reader is introduced to the subject of mixed and heated industrial vessels. In the second part of the thesis thermo-hydraulic calculation of the heating process is carried out in case the vessel is agitated and in case the agitation is not applied. The next part of the thesis describes the procedure for creating a calculation tool, which is later used to solve two sample problems. The last part describes the experimental measurement of the pumping characteristics of the agitator.
Evaluation of particle deposition rate in cement plant ductwork
Dorniak, Michal ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Vondál, Jiří (advisor)
The submitted thesis deals with calculation of pressure drop in pipeline of cement industry, which is directly correlated with energy consumption of raw mill exhaust fans. The introduction in submitted thesis describes theoretical basics of cement production. Part of theoretical analysis is about detailed study of calculations of different friction factors. Separately for gas and separately for solids. In the practical part, a mathematical model of universal configuration of pipeline for pressure drop calculations was created. The last part evaluate impacts of pressure drop on energetic demands of raw mill exhaust fans.
Thermal-hydraulic analysis of operated heat exchanger
Chudý, Dávid ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the thermal-hydraulic analysis of an operating heat exchanger in an ethylene evaporation unit. In the theoretical part of the thesis the design of shell and tube heat exchanger and the basics of the thermal-hydraulic calculation are presented. The subject of the practical part is the evaporator, which is a part of the unit without measuring the flow rates of the hot stream – steam, and the cold stream – ethylene. Therefore, ChemCAD is used to calculate mass and energy balance of the unit. The actual thermal-hydraulic calculation of the evaporator is then performed in the HTRI software. For the purpose of analysing the evaporator behaviour under different operating conditions, a combined model is developed. The model consists of an iterative calculation procedure between ChemCAD and HTRI. The computational model verifies the evaporator function under several operating conditions. In addition to the design proposals, the work also includes new customized evaporator designs together with an economic evaluation.
Design of economic diameter of steam pipeline
Olexa, Michal ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the derivation and practical application of the relationship for calculating the economically optimal steam pipe diameter for saturated and superheated steam. The first part of the work describes the theoretical information and principles necessary to derive the calculation relationship for the calculation of the economically optimal steam pipeline. In the second part, an assembled calculation tool in Excel is presented, created for a clear and practical design and assessment of steam pipe diameters. In the final part of the thesis, the computational tool is applied to a specific industrial case. The goal of the work is to facilitate the work of designers and constructors, and thereby contribute to saving costs for the implementation of projects.
