EU sanctions against Austria in 2000 in the context of the position of Austria in the European Union. Application of the constructivist theory on the case
Dobiašová, Terézia ; Jeřábek, Martin (advisor) ; Moravcová, Dagmar (referee)
diplomové práce v anglickém jazyce: EU sanctions against Austria in 2000 in the context of the position of Austria in the European Union. Application of constructivist theory on the case The Master thesis EU sanctions against Austria in 2000 in the context of the position of Austria in the European Union. Application of constructivist theory on the case tried to analyse the Austrian case from the constructivist perspective. The thesis attempted to verify the hypothesis that the Member States of the European Union wrongly assessed the impact of Haider's FPÖ on the Austrian democratic development and the European Union itself, claiming that the participation of the FPÖ in the Austrian federal government was jeopardizing its democratic values. In fact there was no evidence for this allegation despite the nature of the FPÖ which was confirmed as being far-right in some aspects (for instance its xenophobia). It has been shown that the participation of the FPÖ in the Austrian government (rather than its isolation, which might have led to even bigger support) was in a certain way a guarantee that democracy and the common values of the European Union would be upheld. Furthermore the thesis tried to answer the question whether the inclusion of the FPÖ in the governmental coalition had posed a real danger...
German Budesrat and its Position in the German Political System
Zykmund, Zbyněk ; Just, Petr (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Martin (referee)

In the theoretical part of this work there is described the creation, structure, aims and needs as well as present problems of Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft. Further in the text is the analysis of the position of this organization in the Czech Republic and in Germany. The cooperation of the representatives of Sudeten Germans with German political parties and the attitude of Czech and German governments towards this association is the main part of the second - 4 - chapter. The last chapter deals with the influence of Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft, especially of sudetendeutsche question, on the selected periods of Czech-German relationship. Strained elections in 2002 and complicated entry of the Czech Republic to the European Union which was caused by the attempts of the Sudetendeutschen representatives to violate the Beneš Desrees approved that Czech-German relationship on the government degree can be cooled under some circumstances. Ten years of the existence of the Czech-German Declaration shows that Czech-German relationship is from a long-term, complex view very good and that Sudetendeutsche...
The German Reunification in Parallel with the Eastern Enlargement of the European Union: Two Roads towards Political Integration
Novotná, Tereza ; Kučera, Rudolf (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Martin (referee)
The thesis argues that the reunification of Germany and the eastern enlargement of the European Union represent two types of democratization through political integration that occurred after the collapse of communist regimes in Central and Eastern Europe. The German exemplar stands for an immediate integration with no preconditions and no foregoing reforms on either part but, instead, employing a simple transfer principle and economic backing of the 'accepting' entity. The Eastern enlargement is a model for the opposite process - a gradual, long-term integration through 'political conditionality' until candidate states reach a political and economic level comparable to the level of the accepting unit. Since both ways of integration are diverse, the final results differ as well. While the eastern enlargement was successful in terms of economics and political stabilization in the new EU member states that are, however, skeptical towards further deepening of the European integration, the unified Germany suffers from economic difficulties and, in the Eastern parts, from the rise of post-communist party and nostalgia. After outlining a theory of two types of integration in the opening chapters, the third chapter proceeds to examining how both integrations came about and how they were legally carried out. The...

The origin of the Nazi death camps 1941 - 1942
Hájek, Jakub ; Jeřábek, Martin (advisor) ; Moravcová, Dagmar (referee)
The bachelor thesis "The origin of the Nazi death camps 1941 - 1942" explores the escalation of the Jewish persecution in the period between the attack on the Soviet Union and the Wannsee Conference. The focus of this thesis lies in the cricial period for the destiny of the Jews in the Nazi Germany, with its stressing the most important points that led to the gradual escalation of the Jewish persecution. The killing starts with searching the most suitable destination for the deportations, and it proceeds to numerous murders in which there were the origins for the mass killings that followed. These were known as the "final solution" and they took place in a highly elaborated system of camps which were later called "death camps". The main focus is therefore the distribution of the directions, control and coordination of the killings by the Nazi security institutions and administration. This is because the formation of the administration and progressive centralization of the Jewish persecution are the most important points for the understanding of how this mass killing could be so carefully controlled by the Nazis and how it could develop from such local activities to the massively industrialized killings of the Jews from the entire Europe.
Political parties as one of the democracy-guarantees in the Federal Republic of Germany
Berger, Vojtěch ; Mrklas, Ladislav (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Martin (referee)
This thesis aims to describe the consolidation process of democracy in West Germany by the example of the political parties. Firstly, it analyses historical reasons for the negative approach towards the parties in the German area and compares how two different law- and constitutional systems, the Weimar Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, were dealing with the political parties. The main focus is put on the parties' role in the current German society and on the parties' influence on the democracy-durability in Germany. Special attention is paid to two aspects - financing of the parties and political education. The final part of the thesis summarizes arguments, which confirm the positive tribute of the parties to the German democracy. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
