Human resources as a factor of rural development

Problems of rural development are influenced by changes in perception and conception of rural areas in developed countries, there is paradigm shift within the theory. It is reflected into the policy of single countries and into the structural policy of EU on the global level. Differentiated rural space requires differentiated approach in the form of local development which is based on endogenous potential. Activity and initiative of local human resources - human capital and especially social capital is able to cause differentiated development of rural areas. This thesis tries to confirm the relation between quality of human resources and level of rural development on the example of czech rural municipalities. 4 Abstrakt The master thesis focuses on development problems of peripheral areas of Czech borderland on the exampl of south-west Krušnohoří. The main aims of this master thesie are: - delimitate peripheral areas on municipality grade in Chomutov district - identify the main development problems for each municipality on the exampl of south-west Krušnohoří and try to propous resolution - analyse human potential development for each municipality on the exampl of south-west Krušnohoří and analys measure involution representatives local self-gavernment in resolution development problems municipality For this master theies I used quantitative research with seven indicators and qualitative research in all municipalites of south-west Krušnohoří Finally I turned beck to preface to confront hypotheseie with a reaching reasults.
Current problems of fruit growing: case study in the Litoměřice region

A lot of changes have taken place in Czechia during the 20th century, the impact of World War I and the independence of Czechia, the results of World War II, 40 years under the impact of Communism, the political revolution of 1989 and admission to European integration in 2004. Each of these events reflects another phase of socioeconomic development and political climates and environmental changes as well and each of the periods has meant great intervention into Czech agriculture, fruit growing and landscape. The main aim of this diploma thesis is analyzing and interpretation of the most serious problems of fruit growing in Litoměřice region and the historical-geographical analysis and interpretation of the development in land use changes from the first half of the 19th century in a case area of this region. To analyze development in land use changes the database LUCC Czechia was used. The database includes detailed data of 8 basic and 3 summary categories about the land use status in the years of 1845, 1948, 1990, 2000 on the level of comparable territorial units (these are the cadastral territories, eventually several connected cadastrals). Potential of Regional Development of inner Peripheries of Czechia: case study the Příbram Region

This thesis discusses issues of inner peripheries of Czechia. Inner periphery is an inland territory which leaves behind its surroundings in a specific way (for example economically). The first part of the thesis discusses selected theoretical and methodological concepts of the spatial polarisation research. In following empirical part, selected theoretical and methodological concepts are apllied to model area of the Příbram region. On the basis of selected socioeconomic and positional characteristics problematic areas are identified. Consequently their development after 1989 is evaluated. In next parts of thesis, selected conditions for the development of four types of capital (natural, man-made, human and social capital) in the identified problematic areas and their relation to the spatial polarisation are evaluated. Intermunicipal Cooperation in Inner Periphery of Czechia: the Třemšín Microregion

The master thesis aims to study at some length the region so called inner periphery. This research work is focused on comparision between theorethical concepts of periphery areas and the actual situation in model microregion Třemšín which extends on the border of three Czech NUTS III regions. Considerable part of the master thesis is dedicated to a discussion about conceptions of peripherness, rural area and rural communities and also about the relation between human and social capital and the development of inner periphery/rural area. Methods contain searching previous information and study of researches done in the context of space polarization, rural development and some sociological researches about human and social capital. The next step is to define some model region suitable to the condition of beeing an example of Czech inner periphery area. Because of the interest in discover how efficient is a cooperation of rural municipalities based on institutional framework, the existing municipal cooperation confederacy Třemšín was appointed. The own research work consist in interviewing mayors of municipalities concerned and posterior analysis of their opinions. Multifunctional agriculture in Czechia after accesion to the European Union: conceptualisation, development and regional differentiation

8 Abstract The dissertation deals with the concepts of multifunctional agriculture in the context of transformations of Czech agriculture in the post-communist era. In general, the study mainly wanted to discuss the concepts of multifunctional agriculture, known for over three decades, especially from the Anglo-Saxon environment, and to analyse the development of Czech agriculture as well as application of multifunctional agriculture especially in the period after Czechia's joining the European Union, including the perception of multifunctional activities by farmers. The initial part of the study discusses the concepts of multifunctional agriculture as non- commodity production (OECD 2001) and an integral part of rural development (Van der Ploeg, Roep 2003) on the one hand and of agricultural multifunctionality (Wilson 2007), on the other. The empirical part of the work was based on a quantitative assessment of regional differentiation of multifunctional agriculture in Czechia, the territorial concentration of multifunctional activities and dependence between the variables that influence its implementation.
