Positives and barriers of communication healthcare staff with patient

This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of the positive aspects and the barriers in communication of a healthcare staff with a patient. The theoretical part of the thesis gives an overview of the findings in a positive act leading to an improvement of a pacient's both physical and a psychological state. The special emphasis is put on an empathy of a healthcare staff with the patient, a patient-centered communication, listening to the patient and a shared decision making, which are all the factors improving not only the reflexion of the patient but the clinical results as well. Consequently the topics of hope and compliance, which also affect the healing process, are surveyed. Furthermore the barriers hindering an effective communication are surveyed. The thesis also focuses on the methods that help to overcome the barriers and intensify the influence of positive aspects in the communication. Currently the several methods are offered - the training of communication skills, the specialised courses and the balint societies. The practical part of the theses offers a concept of the research design, which derives from the findings in the theoretical part. Psychological aspects in patients undergoing cardiac surgery

This thesis researches psychological aspects in adult patients undergoing heart surgery. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part discusses depressive and anxiety symptomatology, quality of life and type D personality, in the context of cardiac surgery. Basic characteristics, possible relations, impacts of occurrence of these aspects and possible related interventions, which seem to be beneficial for cardiac surgery, are presented for each topic. In the empirical part, the symptoms of depression, anxiety and health-related quality of life were examined using a sample of (N = 47) patients undergoing valve surgery. BDI-II, BAI and SF-36 methods were used. The research was conducted in three measurements. The first measurement took place before the surgery, the second before the end of hospitalization and the third took place 30 days after being discharged from the hospital. It was discovered that the depressive symptomatology of our sample differed significantly from the normative sample in the first and second measurements. In the first measurement, the respondents of our sample differed significantly from the norm in the symptomatology of anxiety. Prague Jews in 20th century: plurality of their identities

This thesis deals with national, religious and political identity of Prague Jews in the era of the First Republic and in the first postwar decade. The first, theoretical part, is based on study of thematic literature. It describes historical experience of the jewish community in the Czech lands. It is focused not only on history of the jewish community itself, but also on the history of the relationship between jewish minority and majority society, and between jewish community and the government. It also tries to depict the identity of Czech Jews and its changing due to transformation of social conditions. The second, research part of the thesis is based on analysis of interviews with jewish eyewitnesses. It examines national, religious and political identities of those eyewitnesses and their families. In the part dealing with national identity it tries to find out whether it was Czech, Jewish or German national identity that was most important to Prague Jews during the followed period. In the part that dwells on religious identity we aspire to answer the question to what extent were Jews in Prague religious and what religion meant to them.
