The issue of food waste

This thesis deals with the issue of food waste from the global perspective. The aim of the thesis is to summarize this issue from available world sources and on the basis of its own experience from the practice in public catering facilities. The thesis defines areas of food waste within food chain, identifies the economic, social and environmental consequences resulting from careless food handling and describes organizations and companies dealing with the prevention of food wastage. There are recommendations for the prevention of food waste in households. The practical part of the thesis analyzes food waste in Czech households, measured for one week.
Developement projects in Usti Region

The diploma thesis focuses on the Usti Region in terms of development projects which have been implemented. The irst part explains the basic definitions related to the development projects, includes the theoretical basis of the developement projects management, which is a defining element of it´s success and describes characteristic of non profit organizations. Usti Region has very specific economy and other characteristics, that´s why the detail analysis is part of the practical chapter and gives us general overview to the situation in the region. The interest in the development is progressive in time, that´s why the analysis of completed projects in Oparno Mill is included in the thesis. It aims to assess whether the projects were implemented correctly and their influences are positive for the territory. We work with hypotheses that were confirmed. We can conclude that human resources have an impact on the region development and also the n-goverment non profit organizations may contribute to the development of the territory with limited resources.

This diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of logistic processes at Ravensburger Karton Ltd., known for the production of puzzles and games. The theoretical part provides the theoretical basis and deals with the description of each of logistics processes from development to distribution to end customers. The practical part shows how these processes work on the example of selected manufacturing company, along with their evaluation offers suggestions for possible improvements.
Protection of goods in logistics

This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of external risk factors consequences on goods regard to its characteristics, length and complexity of transport chains in national and international transport. This thesis looks at the methods of protection of goods together with process of loading, reloading, unloading, packaging, labelling, stowing and securing of goods for transportation, storage and handling. In the end it deals with the logistics chain of chocolate and its raw materials pointing at stress risks and its protection. The first chapter describes the significance of international transport and it defines goods characteristics, external risk factors and transport chains. The second chapter deals with technologies in logistics. The third and fourth chapter study packaging and system of protection. The fifth chapter contains information about cargo stowing and securing in means of transport. The last chapter deals with logistics chain of chocolate and its raw materials, starting with growing cocoa beans in Africa and ending in Czech retail store.
Retail logistics and supply chain management

The aim of this master thesis ,Logistics and SCM in retail ' is to introduce modern supply chain management (SCM) and logistics approaches and technologies used by multinational retail companies through the example of the TESCO company, while focusing on the UK and Czech retail market. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical section describes logistics and SCM with focus on retail markets. The first three chapters introduce the basic SCM concepts, current trends and challenges in retail logistics and identify the key areas of interest of a retail supply chain. The analytical part explores the systematic steps undertaken by TESCO that helped the company gain a competitive advantage on the markets. It begins by outlining the activities of transnational TESCO PLC, which should provide the reader with basic information about the company, its vision and strategy. The last two chapters look into TESCO's supply chain solutions in Great Britain and the Czech Republic with a focus on common traits and features.
Private Labels

This Bachelor Thesis titled Private labels deals with distribution strategy based on the introduction of private labels especially in retail chains. At the beginning it is focused on the general concept of private label offered by retailers, where is mentioned basic characteristics, history and structuring of distribution brands. Subsequently this thesis informs readers about the introduction of new special distribution brands, which focus primarily on the new consumption habits of customers. The practical part describes the specific relationship between a supply company and two retail companies, with an emphasis on comparing the logistics of the production and promotion of these products, and compares the conditions and standards for the operation of this business relationship.
Franchising form of cooperation with adidas Czech republic

The aim of the Bachelor's thesis is to describe and analyse current franchise system in adidas ČR, l. t. d. and on the basis of outputs recommend systematic changes which are applicable and lead into system efficiency of cooperation with franchise partners of adidas ČR l. t. d. The theoretical part uses background research to deal with the view of the problems of a franchise model based on available resources. The aim of the first theoretical part of the thesis is to obtain basic information on the development of franchising, to introduce a definition of franchising, its characteristics, types and terms, including a description of the current situation and development of franchising in the Czech Republic. The aim of the second theoretical part is to describe the systemic advantages of franchising and also its advantages and disadvantages for both parties participating in this business model - the franchisee and the franchisor. The theoretical analysis is a prerequisite for the practical part of the thesis, the aim of which is to use seven years of experience in the business department at adidas ČR l. t. d. and to analyze the current franchising system at adidas ČR l. t. d., its pros and cons, with an effort to develop recommendations for systemic changes that would be applicable for improving the system of cooperation with franchise partners of adidas ČR l. t. d.
New trends in sales in FMCG (usage of operational CRM)

The diploma thesis deals with three aspects of operational part of CRM -- sales force automation, telephone sales (contact centers) and e-business. The thesis studies the influence of these three aspects on the firm's productivity. The diploma thesis links to the company Plzensky Prazdroj a.s., which provided the data. Practical contribution of the thesis is an evaluation of current business model of Plzensky Prazdroj and a proposal of a new e-business strategy for this company.
Utilization of Category Management in the Supplier-Retailer Relations

Category management (CM) is an approach of cooperation on category development between supplier and retailer. Supplier brings the knowledge of consumer and products within the category. Retailer brings sell-out data. The whole concept is based on managing categories as strategic business units and delivering maximum value to consumer in form of satisfying his needs. Even though first CM projects in ČR started about 15 years ago, most of the companies have not been able to fully implement CM. The barriers are high organizational demands on integration of CM into company structure and the necessity of trust between the supplier and the retailer in form of sharing data. The objective of this thesis is to identify opportunities in CM based on the analysis of current business process in Plzeňský Prazdroj, a. s. Opportunities identification is reached through comparison of ideal business process defined by specialized literature with the real experience from Plzeňský Prazdroj. Opportunities to enhance the current setting of the CM process will be summarized based on the comparison. Also, new areas of possible utilization of CM will be pointed out.
